    The night was fast approaching but the air was still heavy with heat from the afternoon. It was very quiet, almost eerie outside, with just an occasional cry of a cuckoo. “May I kiss you, Elizabeth?” Christina asked suddenly, breaking the silence. “Same place we had our first kiss…and now our last.” Bette sighed and

    The night was fast approaching but the air was still heavy with heat from the afternoon. It was very quiet, almost eerie outside, with just an occasional cry of a cuckoo.

    “May I kiss you, Elizabeth?” Christina asked suddenly, breaking the silence. “Same place we had our first kiss…and now our last.”

    Bette sighed and took Christina’s right hand into hers and kissed it gently, “I’m sorry but I can’t.”

    “Oh yes, there’s Tina,” Christina took hand away almost angrily.

    “No, Tina has absolutely nothing to do with this,” Bette put her hands around Christina’s face this time, looking into her eyes. “Kissing you goodbye won’t be cheating or belittling my love for her.”

    “Then why?”

    “Because this kiss won’t mean the same to me that it would to you and I don’t want to hurt you more that I already have.” Bette softly kissed Christina’s cheek and said with sadness, “Goodbye, Christina.”

    She watched her first love leave with tears in her eyes. The finality of her departure hit her harder than she pretended it would be. No matter what happiness was awaiting her in the future, Christina would always be part of her past, part of her heart.

    Bette went back inside and sat down on a chair, finishing her scotch. She glanced at the clock. There were still a few hours left before midnight. Bette snuggled deeper into the chair and closed her eyes.

    The sound of the church bell in a distance was so unexpected that Bette literally jumped off the chair and looked at the clock. It was showing eleven but the church bells never lied. 1… Bette began running with her heart beating so fast and so loud she could hardly hear the chiming sounds. 2… ‘oh my god, how is it possible? I had plenty of time…’ 3… ‘and I made sure the clock was working…’ 4… ‘no way, I can’t believe Christina did it…’ 5… ‘she must have moved the clock back an hour…’ 6… ‘she did it on purpose so I’ll be late to the portal opening…’ 7… ‘if I don’t make it I’m stuck here for another three months…’ 8… ‘I understand how she feels and why she did it…’ 9… ‘but it’s unacceptable and I will never forgive her’ 10… ‘I don’t know what I’m going to do if I’m not going to make it’ 11… ‘This dress is so heavy, I can’t run faster, fuuuuuuuuuuck’ 12………

      So, about the chapter – i must say i never like Helena. In some stories and TLW i hate her, in some stories i indifferent to her. In your story – first option.
      But i hope Bette was not too late and it was her in bed with Tina.

    2. O-M-G!! You made my day. Hell, my entire year. Wonderful update. Such imagination with the entire plot line. Great character arc for Bette. Love, love, love this story. So happy we’ll finally learn how it turns out. No pressure now, but I think a fitting day to post your final chapter is October 18, the 10th anniversary of Chapter 1.

      Wow, it was about time, I honestly was thinking to send you another pm as the last year, asking you for a new chapter; but is fine, I have problems with my time too, jobs are always in the way.

      As Zhenya, I also pray that the one beside Tina is Bette and no the psycho of Helena.

      I hope you could update soon, and write another story later, maybe a little bit shorter because of the time, but I really would like to read more of your stories, this is so good, please, keep writing.

      It is now the last day in August 9 days since you posted this Chapter.
      I have done a complete re-read and enjoyed it more, I think, than the first read. although, as a 75 year old, I am a little disturbed that all your Grandma characters seem to be in homes and losing their minds!

      Please, Please post the Final Chapter of this great story this weekend and make my day! Certainly do not wait until October – I love CellaNox but think this a stupid idea! :-)

      This is a great story and I will be sorry to see it end and will be first in line to ask for an Epilogue

    8. Great to see a new chapter of this wonderful story, I’m hoping Bette showed up in the knick of time kicked Helena’s ass and fell asleep waiting for the drug to wear off. They really don’t need this type of crap after all they have been through. PPS
