The girl blushed slightly at this praise but didn’t say anything, suddenly fascinated with the studio’s large window.
“She actually just returned from Paris, where she spent five years studying painting with the best artists,” Maxine continued excitedly, “And I invited her to help you finish these paintings for my little art festival. I hope you still would like to participate, Elizabeth. I know the last few days have been hard on you…”
Elizabeth didn’t let her finish and said softly, “No, it’s fine mother, I…I would love nothing more than to be involved in that project. You know how much I love art and I know how much time and energy you already put into this and how much it means to you.”
She turned her attention to the newcomer and said politely with a quick curtsey, “Welcome to our home, Ms. Radcliff. I would be delighted if you can help me to please my mother and paint more flowers and dogs,” she finished with a smile, unable to keep her eyes off Christina.
Christina seemed amused at Elizabeth’s manners but she didn’t act on it. She gave Elizabeth a hug, slightly touching her hand when she withdrew from the embrace, “The pleasure is all mine, Ms. Porter, your mother told me a lot about you and your talent.”
“And she highly exaggerated it, I’m sure,” Elizabeth couldn’t stop herself from smiling just at the sight of Christina’s lovely face.
“I doubt it, Ms. Porter,” Christina smiled back at her and then turned back to Maxine, “Uh, Mrs. Porter, it’s actually Kennard, Christina Kennard, I got married last month.”
“Oh, what wonderful news, my dear,” Maxine said, genuinely happy for Christina and giving her an affectionate kiss on a cheek as well as a hug, “Congratulations are in order, I believe. Well, why don’t we go to the drawing room and have some wine?”
“I would love too, but I can’t,” Christina was beaming with happiness, “I just found out yesterday that I’m pregnant.”
“Even better news, Christina, dear, let’s have some tea then,” Maxine was already calling for Sarah to prepare the tea.
During this whole conversation Elizabeth didn’t say a word. She was mesmerized by Christina’s beauty, by her wavy and soft blond hair, by beautiful hazel eyes and by a smile, so amazing that it made her heart melt inside.

Oh…I knew you’d stop at a critical point when you were going to that convention! This story is really good…I can’t believe this was the first one you ever wrote. Anyway great update and have tons of fun at L5. We’ll be looking for your report as usual!
Is the picture of Bette and did the long ago Christina paint it? This is such a thought provoking story. Can’t wait to see what is next.

Great update!… It’s getting really exciting! Hey, do you want a token of how much I love this fic? Well, I think I will be looking forward to your next chapter just as much as your report on L5! How is that for a proof of my addiction? LOL… I genuinely love this story, it’s very original and has so much potential that I’m sure I’ll be hooked to every single chapter. To be honest, I really like the build up, and don’t mind waiting a bit more for their meeting. Especially given the nature of your intrigue, it really needs the background stories.
