No Beast so Fierce Chapter Two
Now he was dead and his heir apparent, Peter, was with her in California and as far as she was concerned that was where he was going to stay. Tasso Manner, the huge mansion overlooking Ingrid, was technically in Peter’s name but they could never go back their for…unfortunate reasons. Tina had missed so much of Peter’s life sometimes it physically hurt her. Nicholas had apparently made his peace with her leaving him perhaps, ironically, spurned on by her relationship with Bette. Maybe the fact that Tina was a lesbian had somehow assuaged his damaged pride? Maybe he was just tired of hating her for leaving him. Either way, visits had become more frequent in the past few years. Tina and Peter had become closer, though still not as close as Tina would have liked. Peter remained cold and distant at times, though if it was his previous relationship with his mother or the death of his father Tina didn’t know. Maybe it was just his personality, to be cold and somewhat distant. Tina didn’t know that either. That hurt too.
It didn’t matter. Peter was with her now. No one was ever going to take him away from her again. Perhaps that was the reason she had flown into such a rage at the idea of him fighting in that dank little shithole. He could have been seriously injured, or worse…
"Hey, look. The important thing is, Peter’s safe. He’s not being brought up in Hicksville, Georgia anymore. He’s with you." Alice said solemnly. "And things are only going to get better from here."
"Here, here." Dana said.
"I know. I just…I worry sometimes." Tina said. "About Peter and Bette and everything. The two are constantly at each other’s throats-"
"Why?" Dana asked.
"Probably Nick, bad mouthing her to Peter." Alice supplied. Then, to Tina. "Right?"
"Maybe, Nicholas was never afraid to speak his mind around Peter." Tina said, once more frustrated with the dead man. "Maybe it’s just the fact that she’s his stepmom and he’s her stepkid and that’s just the way things go." Then, finally she admitted to herself. "Maybe it’s the old feuds. Fucking Nicholas was probably filling my son’s head with a whole bunch of crap about werewolves just like his father did to him, and his father did to him."

The chapter summary had me laughing. What a shame that Peter was brought up by his jerk of a father. He’s annoying and arrogant… but he’s also still a teenager. Maybe there’s still hope for him, but he needs someone to smack him down every time he sticks his foot in his mouth. Which he appears to constantly do. I hope Alice and Shane figure out something to help Dana. This story’s different, and pretty enjoyable. Keep up the good work! Cheers :)
