Tina looked at Melvin and her heart broke. How could she not forgive this man. To her he was the most beautiful example of someone who was willing to humble himself and take full responsibility of what he’d done in the past.

“I have no reason to not to forgive you. I am honored that you include me into your family. I’m sure you will stay here for awhile. You go to sleep and rest.”

Tina kissed Melvin on his forhead and looked him in his eyes. She saw his tears but she also saw his gratitude. The gratitude of not judging him. She wished her parents could be like Melvin. But maybe, maybe, they too had changed………..

Thinking about what Melvin had said, Tina walked out of the room. What Melvin told her really hit home. She wondered if her parents did changed and if they missed her. Did she missed them? Yes one part of her did but there was this other part that didn’t. She didn’t missed that religious part of them. She couldn’t believe that God was someone who didn’t forgive. She wouldn’t buy it. What would her parents say if she’d come home and tell them she was gay. Would they be so accepting as Bette’s family was? The only thing Bette’s family cared about was the happiness of Bette. They didn’t care that she, Tina, was a woman. And the way she was introduced and welcomed into the family was like a warm bath. She needed to share this feeling. She needed to call Dana’s parents. She would do that later. She also had to call her work to tell her boss when she’d be back.

She walked outside, she really needed some time alone to think things over.

Her life was like a rollercoaster right now. Two weeks ago Bette walked into the store where she worked. It was as if she was hit by lightning. When Tina thought back, she start falling in love the Saturday they went out for groceries and she told Bette everything about the neighborhood. What made her fall in love with Bette? She couldn’t say. She only knew that if she looked into her eyes, she felt like drowning. If she heard her voice she had butterflies in her stomach. If she smelled her, boy she wanted to hold her, kiss her, be very close to her. Tina sighed. She wondered if Bette had that medical check and what the outcome was. She didn’t want to ask because she didn’t want to look eager to have sex with her. But to be honest, she longed for her.
