Need To Be Next To You

“Hi Tina, it’s Eric. How are you?” the voice on the other end said.

“Oh, hi Eric! I am good. What’s up?” Tina asked while looking at Bette. Bette heard her and raised her eyebrow.

“I was wondering if you’re available for that coffee?” Eric asked.

Bette opened the door for Tina and let her in.

“Thanks, babe!” Tina mouthed and gave Bette a kiss.

“I’m sorry, Eric but I can’t. I’m still in New York.”

“Oh, I thought it was one of your business trips where you fly back in to LA immediately. That’s why I thought maybe we can catch up over coffee.”

“This is not a business trip, Eric. I went here to see Bette and will be spending the entire week with her.”

“Bette’s with you? How’s she?” Eric sincerely asked.

“She’s doing well. We went to her show last night. I am so proud of her.”

“Tina, are you and Bette together?” Eric carefully asked.

“Yes, Eric. I’m sorry. I am not so sure how to tell you.”

“Hey, no need to say sorry. I’m happy for you and Bette. You guys finally figured it out. If Bette’s OK with you having coffee with me, you know where to call me. I’ll let you go now. Bye!”

    “Bye, Eric!”

Eric hanged up the phone with tears brimming in his eyes. How silly of him to think that he still had the chance. Up until now, it still hurts.

“Hey Tee, what flavor of iced tea would you like with your sandwich?” Bette asked.

“Do they have raspberry? I want that if they have it.” Tina replied making her way to Bette. “He knows. He asked if we were together and I said yes.”

“What did he say?” Bette asked.

“He said he’s happy for us and if it’s OK with you he wants to have coffee.”

“It’s up to you, baby. If you want to go have coffee with him, I am fine with it but if he tries something funny I am going to make him hurt.” Bette said and kissed Tina.

“Really? You would be OK with it?”

“Yes. I figured I trust you and I believe you so I am fine with it.”

Tina encircled her arms on Bette’s waist. “You are something else, Porter.”

“I am better because of you, babe.” Bette said while leaning in for a kiss.

    1. I’m glad to see an update for this story. I feel bad for Eric. I hope he is sincere that he’s happy for Tina even though he wanted a second chance with her. I can’t wait to see what happens if they meet for coffee.

    2. I thought this story was over for you, even though I beleived there was more to be told, but gave up on reading it, this is more than a good place to pick it up, I hope we get a final chapter, with, at least them living in the same state.
