It was a long day for Tina, but she concentrated on the task before her, tried not to think about the ‘warning note’ or any potential danger of harm to Bette. If she allowed her mind to wander there for even a second, she knew this case would be a goner for the Prosecution. That wasn’t going to happen, so the trial proceeded with the court day ending late but without any ‘outside events’ intruding into the process.
Now she could head home, her body and mind exhausted but her heart excited to once again be with Bette. When you’ve found the person, wherever that person is, is home.

As soon as Tina got home, she called Bette and asked if she had eaten yet. Bette told her no, she was waiting for ‘her girl’ to call her. There definitely was an advantage to living in such close proximity to each other. All that was needed was about five minutes – down the elevator, cross the street, up the next elevator and, there they were, together again. Nearly instant gratification – nearly.
They had dinner late but neither minded. Each spoke about their day at work, but carefully and purposely avoiding the subject of the “warning.” Bette stayed with Tina this night also and they eventually fell fast asleep in each other’s arms. They woke from slumber still entwined. Bette’s arm was around Tina, one of her long legs covering the lower half of Tina, her head close to the blonde’s hair which was tussled but splayed against the pillow. The room, the sheets and their bodies still carried the aroma of last night’s intense – and repeated – lovemaking.
Bette grinned as she remembered Tina whispering in the wee hours of the morning, as they both lay exhausted…
“I cannot get enough of you…of us.”
The delightful memory was rudely interrupted by the alarm clock going off.
“Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…….” Tina growled. “Crap…it’s a work day…”
She rolled over to face Bette and looked right into her smiling eyes, then deftly began running a hand down the long, firm body of her mocha-colored lover, fingers now skillfully and delightfully caressing breasts. Bette’s response to Tina’s touch was not only felt but seen as her nipples became almost instantly erect. Tina’s hand came to rest between Bette’s thighs. Bette unconsciously moved her hips up as Tina’s fingers pressed lightly on her and began to very slowly make circles on her now awakened clitoris.
“And you’re smiling for a good reason, Ms. Porter?”
“Oh, yes, for a lot of good reasons – well, what you’re doing right now certainly makes me smile, but most importantly is that I’m waking up beside you.”
“Umm…yes. This would be a whole lot sweeter if this were Saturday. Another helping of Porter’s Mocha Delight would do me just fine.”
Bette’s eyes became serious. She couldn’t believe she was going to broach this topic.
“Something else would make it a little sweeter, too, T.”
“What’s that? You look so serious, Honey.”
“What would you think about us waking up with each other every day, T? You know, moving in together. What do you think?”
Tina put her hand on Bette’s cheek. “I’d love nothing more…well, there is one thing I’d love more in addition to that.”
“What’s that, Baby?” Bette asked with a coy grin.
Tina swallowed hard. All of a sudden the words were stuck. Here goes…come on…
…then the words just spilled out.
“I realize everything with us has happened so fast, but we both know this is something special, something beyond our control that brought us together. I love you more than I can put into words – and I know you love me just as much. I don’t care about the bigots and the narrow-minded bastards. I want us to get married. We could go to Canada. Would you marry me, Bette?”
Bette was silent. She just stared at Tina. Fuck, Tina thought. Guess I should have waited with that question.
Married? Bette thought, that’s a much bigger step than moving in together – which I’m totally ready for – but married?
Bette loved this woman with all her heart. She knew she could never leave her and would certainly be devastated if Tina left her – but married? Before Tina there was no one she had even contemplated living with, no less the major step of ‘marriage – with or without society’s blessing.
Why do seconds seems like hours when someone is silent?
“Bette?”

This is great. Tina pops the question and Bette is shocked. I wish they were getting married on the show but they are not even together on the show. IC needs some tips from the masters. We worship you pen master. Ha Ha thanks for the story.

Oh man, you really left me hanging like falling off of cliff. I hope that you get to post soon. Most of all I hope that Bette will say yes and not allow Tina to think that she made a huge mistake. Besides they really do want to stay together and marriage is the best next step to make.

I’m really happy you are back with this delightful story, but I think it’s a little cruel of you to leave us with such a cliffhanger… Glad you’re tucked up cozily with your woman! So you’ll have lots of time to write now, won’t you?
The question becaome is was Bette’s offer to live together an offer to commit to a relationship with Tina, or to play house? I think that the warning letter threating Bette should have served as a reminder that live is and can be short with NO guarantees. Maybe Bette feels that things are moving too fast, but she needs to reasure Tina that she is serious about their relationship and them being together :o)

Acreextl, Wonderful, wonderful writing. You seem to inhibit this world and demonstrate the depth and completeness of Bette and Tina’s attraction to each other. Their hearts and souls may be intertwine however it can take some time for their heads to catch up. I know that this frightens Bette particularly given her childhood with Melvin and his numerous affair. Marriage is a sacred vow to Bette and she just needs some time to come to terms with the enormity of Tina’s proposal. Peter is fleshed out into the leach that he is but also as a rounded human being with doubts and concerns however their is also a desire to win and win at all costs so Tina had better be prepared for his slings and arrows. It is inspiring to have marriage as the answers to Tina worries. More please and make it soon. Thank you for dharing your talent and words with me. Your Loyal Fan.
