    My One Special One – Chapter 13

     “It would be better for me, T, if you did.  I’m requesting that you call me. It’s Friday so maybe around 7?  That is, if you’ve had enough time to think things through.  If not, just tell me.”

    Tina couldn’t help it.  The tears just overflowed.

    “It will be all right.  You’ll be okay. Goodnight, Tina.”  Bette turned and left the apartment.

    Before getting on the elevator, she glanced in the mirror that was above a table right next to the elevator doors.

    “Well, Bette Porter, in twenty-four hours or so Life is going to give you a good dose of reality.  It’s not like you didn’t know it was coming.”

    Bette made up her mind that tomorrow, no matter what, Tina Kennard would know she is loved – without condition – even if Tina turns and walks away.  With a heavy heart she watched the lighted floor numbers as they made their way down to the lobby.

    * * *

    Tina tossed and turned.  She thought about Bette.  She thought about her mother.  She thought of all the consequences of love and of the choices we make in life.  That’s really what’s it all about – choices.  Each of us is where we are because of a choice we’ve made along the way.  We make do or we move on if we can’t handle it or we’re uncomfortable – If we have the courage and the will to make the move.  It takes a hell of a lot of courage as an individual to admit to yourself you’re in the wrong placeyou made a bad choice.  Sometimes it’s just a hell of a lot easier to stay put, not fight it, carefully wrap all your hopes and dreams in a tight little package and place them to the back of the closet to be opened at another time or place.  We then sit and hope that ‘another time or place’ will magically be ours someday and we’ll still have the strength to open that package and savor its contents before it’s too late.

    There was no doubt in Tina’s mind that she wanted Bette.   There also was no doubt of the harsh impact her mother’s words had on her.  She could not imagine being shut off from her mother.  Where did all that ‘radical right’ crap come from?  Her mother was never like that.  She taught her to respect all people, no matter their background.   It had to be what Bette saidthis wasn’t ‘other people’; this was her own daughter and that makes the difference a hard pill to swallow, especially if that difference involves any element of sexual contact – that makes the damn pill get caught in their throats and they begin to gag.

    1. Arceextl, what you said about the S.S. TiBette is so true. S.O.S., Ilene! Thanks for the TiBette love in your story. Please continue and post soon. Oh, and I hope Bette opens a can of whoop ass on whomever is after Tina.

    2. Arceextl,I am right beside you in dreamland. This fantasy is so much more gratifying than the depression that Season 3 brings. How can you dismiss nearly 9 years of your life with someone as if it was an old pair of socks ready for the goodwill bag? I adore this story and am now very intrigued to read what will happen next? Who exactly is this new character? Is Tina in danger given her high profile job that necessiates putting bad people in prison? Please continue soon as I am on the edge of my seat and ready to fall off. Your Loyal Fan.PS most appreciative to have this haven to escape into.

    3. this chapter made me shaky…i’m sort of hoping for the right decision from tina, but i’m scared for that guy, i think he’s after tina because she’s on this drug case…i hope she won’t get hurt, or get amnesia, or get cancer or get killed or get kidnapped or say no to bette or any other crap that keeps happening to our beloved B&T in many other stories…keep them alive and together, please

    4. Love the story. Don’t let the bad guy get Tina. Please let her tell Bette that she loves her and is willing to fade the heat of her mother. Thanks for the post. RC, that poem is beautiful. You have written some beautiful words in all your works that you have shown us within your stories. They’re so beautiful they hurt. Thanks for the post. Post again soon please.

    5. OMG….what a cliffy!!!!! You can’t let us wait long for Tinas answer PLEASE :o))….I don’t like that guy, he is definitely bad news, but Bette will be there too save Tina, I know it!!! LOL

    6. RC..great update. Looks like the drug dealer’s case is going to get up close and personal with Tina and Bette. Somehow, the guy is going to use information from the check-in book (BPorter) to get to Tina. Bette did the right thing in being there for Tina and then leaving. Tina needs to make this decision without feeling obligated to Bette being there. RC..that was really get dialogue between B & T. Thanks for the update, please continue.
