FIRST DREAM

Rossi family house (Riverbank, north of the central valley area in California), 2031: It is Sunday afternoon; at the table in the dining room, a12-years old girl light brown hair is fixing her hazel eyes on some holographic projections of a protein molecule from her tablet; the view shows the model of the protein conformation change in Alzheimer’s disease, from the kitchen a beautiful brunet 36-years old tanned skin, is talking

Antonia Rossi: “Louise, honey, may you check the time for me, please?”

Louise: (looking at the digital clock on the wall) “it’s 6:10 pm… What time is daddy back?”

Antonia Rossi: “let see…, he started driving your brother and sister to their colleges in San Francisco, after lunch, he probably is still there…, he may be here at 8 or 9, why are you asking…”

A strong vibration is shaking their home; the woman running takes the teen outside the house, sirens are alerting the population.

Antonia Rossi: … “Louise, don’t cry it’ll finish soon”

But the ground is still trembling and it’s getting stronger, houses around are collapsing

Louise: (crying) “Is not stopping mommy…”

After 10 minutes, the quake stopped, 30 minutes later firefighters arrive.

Man: “we are setting shelter for everybody, how many are you lady?”

Antonia Rossi: “Just my daughter and I, my husband and other kids are in San Francisco”

Man: “… San Francisco…? I’m sorry ma’am, all the cost until Livermore have been destroyed by the quake and the tsunami, which fortunately didn’t reach more than ten miles from here”

Louise: (who heard everything and is sobbing) “they are gone mom, we are alone”

Antonia Rossi: “don’t cry my baby, we are not alone, they will be always with us, they will protect us”

Antonia Rossi voice repeating:

The dream dissolves and new scenery appears
