It is 8 a.m. and half of the newcomers are awake and having breakfast. Tina is talking with her friends at a table in the back yard.

Cat: (grinning) “do you have another bedroom, Tina?”

Tina: (frowning) “what are you talking about?”
Cat: “Hmm…, let me explain myself when we go to sleep, you are nowhere and when we wake up you are still sleepy”

Nicky: “well, it’s obvious that you haven’t slept much the last two nights”

Tina: (looking away) “okay, I’ll tell you something but keep it as a secret, I’m seeing someone”

Carmen: (smiling) “we already know that”

Cat: “and we know who she is”

Nicky: “but… we don’t know the details”

Tina: “there are not details… yet… no word to anyone”

Cat: “fine, but keep us updated”

Tina: (rolling her eyes) “not even in your dreams”

The girls go up to the second floor toward the recreation rooms.

Old Los Angeles ruins, 5:15 a.m. the same day–Restricted Zone

Tasha: “Louise, I can’t find the adequate wavelength shield to neutralize the electromagnetic radiation of the new magnetic field”

Louise: “I know, but keep trying”

The new magnetic vortex is changing constantly and following not a pattern and Louise knew that it is almost impossible to use the appeaser, but she need to protect Tasha, as every adult on earth, she knew that human survival is the primordial objective, she has to maintain the cadet busy so she doesn’t panic. Suddenly the two occupants of the ship felt tired and dizzy.

Tasha: “Louise, I don’t feel fine”

Louise: “go to rest Tasha, I think I’ll do the same, we can’t do anything, just wait”

The new magnetic vortex is cloaking the vessel, blocking the verbal transmission but allowing the visual, as if assuring the remote observers in Arroyo Park that the ship occupants are fine. As the vortex is covering the ship, Tasha and Louise start feeling weak and sleepy until they got unconscious.

In addition to the hcameras to monitor the inside of the vessel, the instruments allow to record the vitals of each of the occupants sending the information to the supercomputers in Arroyo Park, after falling asleep, Tasha’s vitals are normal for someone who is just having sweet dreams; however it is not the same in the case of Louise, because her brain is showing changes in the regular sleep pattern.
