LOVE LOST LOVE GAINED – Part 25

@ Carmen’s

Carmen put the phone back on the hook and slid slowly down the wall to the floor. Tears flowing from her eyes down her cheeks.
‘Why is this happening? Why did she leave me then come back and say she loves me?’ her mind screamed. ‘WHY?’

Carmen’s mind was working overtime, trying to find how something so right could go so wrong in less than a year. She loved Shane, loved her with all her heart then when she left her at the alter her heart had shattered. Since that day her heart had slowly mended but the part that was Shane’s was still fragile, still in pieces and she didn’t know if it was ever going to be whole again.

She sat pondering all the questions in her mind when the telephone rang. Ignoring it she carried on staring off into space.

“Hi, This is Carmen – I’m unable to get to the phone at the moment but if you want to leave a message after the tone please do so”

BEEP

“Carmen, it’s your Boss Man here” The man on the end chuckled “Look I need you to call me back it’s very important, so as soon as you get this message ring me. Talk to you soon”

Carmen frowned looking at the phone, Marc rarely phoned her on the house phone, if he did it was extremely important. Sighing she got up and reached for the phone.

“Hey, It’s me Carm. You Called me?” Carmen listened to Marc on the other end. “Well…. No it’s not that I don’t want to…….. No I do I really do…..when?……That soon?…..Yeah I can. Is everything up and running?….. awesome…. Well I’ll come in tomorrow and sort things out…. Okay see you then………….. and Marc Thank you.” Carmen put the phone down and looked around the room. She couldn’t believe what Marc had asked her, she knew she had impressed but she didn’t think she would get a promotion this soon.

Smiling Carmen picked up the phone, the unhappiness concerning Shane being put to the back of her mind.

“Hey Amanda…. Yeah It’s me, I was wondering what you were doing tomorrow?….. I know you’re pretty busy but its important…… Yeah……. Yes I did….. No things aren’t sorted, they kinda got worse today….. I’ll explain later…… so can we meet up tomorrow?….. lunch time?….Okay I’m looking forward to it…. Take care tonight….miss you….. bye”
She put the phone down again and looked around the room, her eyes landing on a picture of the girls back in LA, all of them including Shane. Looking over the smiling faces she couldn’t help but smile also. Thinking that the news she had received would brighten up the others lives.
