Love and Basketball Chapter 69
Chapter 69:
3 months later:
Bette got word that she did make Team USA. She will start playing some games over the summer against Canada and Brazil. Bette tells Tina that she will make every effort to come back home as soon as she is able so they can be together before going back to school the following term.
Tina is getting more playing time and she is making the best of it. She is now playing at least 15 minutes and is scoring a solid 10 points per game. Her goal is to be starting by next season and she wants to score at least 20 points per game.
Tina and Sabrina’s dorm after a grueling practice for Tina:
“Hey Tina, I’m ordering some food from Foo Chows. Do you want anything?” Sabrina asked her roommate.
“Ooh that sounds good, but I really shouldn’t. Thanks though.” Tina responds going back to her book.
“Are you dieting or something, cuz Tina you look great.” Tina raised her eyebrows and smirked at the young woman who has become a good friend. Sabrina is a great listener and she never makes Tina feel as though her relationship with Bette is any less important as hers with her boyfriend Matt.
“No. I’m just watching what I eat. I need to be the fastest on the team if I want to start by next season.”
“Tina you’re pretty quick now. I saw your last game and you had a couple of steals where you were halfway down the court before your opponent realized her pockets had been picked!” Sabrina said laughing.
“Silly. I’m not that fast yet.” Tina giggled.
“You are Tina. I think you will be starting in no time.”
“Thanks Sabrina, but I want to earn my full ride by being the best I can be. The better I do, the more options I will have when I graduate.”
“I hear you Tina. I guess Bette’s competitive nature is rubbing off on you huh?”
“Among other things.” Tina says with a shit eating grin.
“Ew Tina, TMI!”
“Just saying. Yes she has kept me on my toes. I am still trying to beat her in one on one but she still kicks my ass.”
“So you’ve never beaten her?”
