Life As We Know It – #402 – The L Word S4
“She picked me up the night I left Whistler,” answered Shane.
“You’ve been with that woman, for four months?” asked Alice. Fanning herself. “She’s not Carmen, but damn, she’s someone.”
“She’s so…,” began Bette.
“Hot?” offered Jenny. Cupping her warm cup, smiling at Bette. Bette let the left side of her lips curl into a smile.
“Familiar.”
Life As We Know It
Helena sat in the small, cramped office. This was her, what felt like, 100th job interview. It seemed that her mother had let everyone know that she was a spoilt rich kid, riding on mummy’s coat tails. Or perhaps, Prudence had done that. Nonetheless, here she was. Close to penniless, her car was only moments from being repossessed, and she hadn’t been able to afford to pay for her children’s plane tickets for the holidays. It had been murderous for her.
Prudence, the sister that she’d hated throughout her life, had sudden reappeared. Having been running the European interests of the business, now she was here. The grumblings in the trades told Helena that Prudence was going to be taking over the movie production company. Helena hoped she didn’t throw Tina out on her ass, Tina deserved much better than that. A sigh on her lips.
“Miss… Peabody? As in, Helena?” the woman at the door said.
“Yes,” Helena said brightly. The short woman chuckled, shaking her head as if a cosmic joke had just been played on her.
“I guess we won’t have to bother with that interview,” the woman said.
“Well, that’s wonderful to hear, when might I get started…,”
Cutting her off. “No, I wouldn’t hire you if my life, or my company’s life depended on it. Four years ago, you cut my throat in a deal, back stabbed me, and then, had the audacity to hit on me. Thanks, but I know your reputation, Miss Peabody, and I don’t want that reputation here.”
The door closed, and Helena stood for a long moment, realizing that she was, once an for all, beaten.

This is getting very interesting. Why do I get the feeling that Bree is Tina’s sister.
I have to agree with coop, it’s getting REALLY interesting . . . wonder if Carmen’s gonna actually talk to Shane or is she gonna’ take Anna up on her advise . . . guess I’ll just have to wait and see . . . but don’t make me wait too long . . . You authors with your freakin’ cliffhangers, lmao . . . post soon, LYLAS

was thinkin the very same thing coop, that would be interesting especially if bette seemed so drawn to her.great story post again wen u can
Okay, enough with the mystery Bree. She is Tina’s long lost little sister, that’s why she is so familiar to Bette. The way she talks and the way she walks as described in the chapter says she is just a little younger version of Tina. Please get old Henry out of the picture so our girls can get back together. Thank you.
Like your writing, and crazy about cat.He like hid in the showders anf wham he got you. Bree is Tina sister that was why she was so familary to Bette. Glad Shane is back and Shane seen Carmen. Henry is such a bore.Like Tina mother, tina did start a new life without closing the door to her old life. Tina will do things her way and her way might not be the bestand she will lose out in the end. thanks
