Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Fifteen (based loosely on HYD: Returns)
“Doesn’t ring a bell..” Marina commented thoughtfully. He must be a new, up and coming director or if not, he must be known for making independent, artsy fartsy films rather than commercial ones.
“Well, for the guys at Focus to get him for the job, he must be good.” Tina gave a slight shrug.
“He really should be.” Marina began to walk backwards, hugging the tray close to her body, signaling her intent to leave. The line at the take-out counter was getting absurd; and the waitress working there looked more than a little harassed and in need of saving. “He’ll be making a movie about our lives, he better make a decent job out of it.” She winked at Tina before taking her leave.
“I’ll make sure he does..” Tina mumbled to herself. She’d spike his coffee with laxatives if ever he did a crappy job. Turning her attention back to her laptop, she typed in a quick response to her would be supervisor before proceeding to check her other emails. She marked the junk mail and quickly deleted them, leaving only an email from Jenny in her inbox. It had no subject, a sight which filled Tina with dread. Feeling cowardly, she skipped that email – telling herself that she’d read it some other day, when she was ready. It wasn’t a rare thing, but she and Jenny had one of those “bestfriend” spats the last time they talked to each other on the phone. Tina had to admit that it was her fault, but she just didn’t feel like reaching out today and listening to – or reading – another one of her friend’s tirades. So for the meantime, she kept her distance. Jenny had asked her the other day, after she had stopped the girl’s angry and offensive rant against Bette, why – just why she was seemed to be still protecting Bette even after the way she had wronged her. But Tina could not give an answer and instead just mumbled a feeble, half-hearted apology. She saw the futility in explaining her actions to a person who would never understand. Jenny had not met her match yet – she had loved and was loved so many times by different people; but they were not the one. And she would never understand just how much it hurt to hear other people bad-mouthing the person she loved more than life itself. There was a subconscious part of her that strive to protect Bette even in this dark time. Sure, she was planning on hating her girlfriend, but that doesn’t mean that she wanted other people to hate her too – especially those people whose opinion she cared deeply about.

My eyes bulge out of their sockets…WOW…54 pages. Wow, I can only bow in admiration. Thank you. On the story, both are having a hellion on the break time, man I am having a hellion on the break time and not even part of the story. I guess we havnet seen the last of the wannabe musician back. What happens next? ;)
thanks alch…another brilliant update and i actually took a bathroom break just like you said lol. i’m just afraid that since this is a long update it might take you longer to write the next? hope not, looking forward to it.
You made me so happy on a Monday morning! That was a hard feat for anybody else but you’vr done it! :) Onto the next chapter… Thanks!
Close to 15 and 3/4 LOL. That was a beauty of a car. I love toblerone! Now I must move on to the next post. Thanks alch.
wow..that was epic! But well worth the read…thank you for that ray of sunlight by way of Bette’s memory…and of course for the multitude of “..” this was a good one..
I did a little happy dance when I saw your post! I have to say the chapters were a little short…LMAO! Such a gut wrenching time for B & T. Beautifully written!
Great chapter!Now I think I’ll start loving Mondays:)Thank you for a fabulous update.:D
Thank you Alchy for such a wonderful and long read! You did a great job of weaving the scenes together. I love the Tina-Ken teasing, Bette – Sonja “recovery/addiction” moment, 3-step recovery for Tina, Sam/Bette’s conversation and the Tibette car. So very, very, very clever!!!! Ok…I sense that “Keith Arden” is somehow connected to a certain “Kate Arden.” Hm…looks like a black cloud on the Tibette reunion horizon. But…I cling to the hope that Ken’s almost secret sharing of perhaps an engagement is in the future. You know that small ray of hope is what is bringing your readers back!!!!! Get some rest Alchy…get your creative juices a break but come back real soon…we need our Alchy fix!
Wow that was great! Excuse me while I read the next part. I will say your bette is soooooo sweet
Your story always satisfies, Alchemy. You get some of everything in here, and it’s all fab. I loved this chapter. Here’s hoping that Tina can stick to #3 on her list, and I hope Bette can do the same. Great, great update, Alchemy. Thank you! :)
Brilliant chapter Alchemy – you always take such care with detail, emotion, characterization – amazing ;-) As someone said abt the previous chapter – one thing Bette still needs to learn is how to take Tina off that pedestal and treat her like an equal. Relationships mean sharing – both good things and bad – IMO that’s the biggest repair they need, the only truly important one. I loved seeing Tina & Ken again – what a great father daughter dynamic they have. I see Tina is still eating her pain, haha! The flashback was great and so was the bittersweet ending.
That was awesome, love seeing Ken and Tina together again.
