    Match maid in heaven..

     

    “So c’mon, tell me Miss Bette, I don’t have much time.” Sonja glanced at the wall clock, pulling the girl from her thoughts. It’s not like the jet would leave without her, but it wasn’t polite to keep the pilot waiting. “You have my word that whatever reasons you may have will never reach Miss Tina’s ears.”

     

    “Promise?”

     

    “I promise.” Sonja raised her hand.

     

    “Swear it on your mom’s grave.”

     

    “Dios mio! My mama’s still alive..”

     

    Whoops!

     

    “Oh. My bad.” Bette shrugged. “Your dad then?”

     

    Sonja knocked on wood. “The same as my mama.”

     

    “Fine, swear it on Maria’s grave.”

     

    “Who’s Maria?”

     

    “Beats me. But since its a pretty common name, you’re bound to know a Maria who also happens to be dead..”

     

    “You know, I actually do.. my cousin’s wife.. my neighbor.. our pet cat.. the town doctor..” Sonja shared in awe, a thoughtful look on her round face. There were a lot more Maria’s in her hometown, but they were still alive.

     

    “See? Told ya. Now, swear or I won’t tell.”

     

    “I swear on every Maria’s grave that I won’t tell Tina what you’re about to tell me.” Sonja raised her hand again and swore, stopping herself from shaking her head and chuckling at Bette’s immaturity, no matter how ridiculous and cute it was. “Now tell me, why don’t you like the idea of Miss Tina working as your maid?”

     

    “Cause..” Bette licked her bottom lip and exhaled deeply. The reason was simple enough. “Cause I love her, that’s why.”

     

    “Huh?” Sonja frowned in confusion. Well, she didn’t expect that answer, that’s for sure. With the risk of sounding like an old Tina Turner song.. “What’s love got to do with it?”

     

    Bette groaned. Does she really have to explain her answer? “It’s cheesy..”

     

    “I’m used to your kind of cheese.” Sonja grinned. After witnessing the sickening mushiness that was Bette and Tina for three whole years in New Haven, she was immune to just about any kind of cheese that Bette would serve. “Try me..”

     

    There really was no escaping this, huh? Bette looked up the ceiling and sighed. With one breath, she dished her explanation.. “I love her. I respect and admire her. No matter how much shit we’re in these days, I’m still hell bent on marrying her and spending my life with her. She’s my better half, my future wife, the mother of my unborn children and all that fucking jazz..”

There are so many examples of your unique humor from Bette’s admission of her love for Tina to Tina’s drooling conversation with Bette concerning her breath. Awesome. Thanks for posting I loved the read.
