    Indecision Part 1 of 2

Tina began to rock back and forth again to satisfy Angelica, momentarily lost in her own thoughts once more as the shadows around them grew longer.

Something else was troubling Tina. How was Bette going to feel when she told her that she was pregnant again? Bette had been a part of the fertilization process, but Tina hadn’t told her that it had been a success yet. She had known for three weeks that it had been, but she had let Bette think otherwise.  Maybe it hadn’t been the right thing, but protecting Bette’s heart was a priority. Tina knew the risks and Bette did too, but she didn’t feel right about telling Bette before Tina felt it was safe to do so.  Now Tina feared that in trying to do the right thing, she had done the worst. What if Bette was upset with her? What if they had a fight, Bette threw her out, and –

“Mommyyyyy. Push!” Angelica’s solid little legs had lost their eagerness to keep her own momentum going and she wanted Tina to give her some help. Tina stood slowly and manoeuvred herself behind Angelica’s swing automatically pushing her, looking past her child at the horizon.  She stepped aside robotically as Angelica flew backwards and forwards, squealing with delight again.

Something about her innocent laughter drew Tina’s thoughts from the melodramatic worst-case-scenario place they had just been.

I guess the Emotionally Fragile stage is starting early this time, Tina mused, rolling her eyes at herself. Yeah, Bette was going to throw her and their unborn child out into the cold. That was totally logical. Tina realized with a start that it was growing even darker. They were going to be late getting home if they didn’t leave soon.

She jumped in front of Angie’s swing and made a crazy face, drawing a surprised giggle from the girl. Tina grabbed the sides of the swing and held it to arrest its movement. When Angie began to protest, she lifted her up and gave her a squeeze, taking comfort from Ang’s strong arms around her neck, a firm embrace from a slightly disgruntled 3 year old.

“Hey, kid,” Tina said softly. “How would you like a baby sister?”

    1. this Bette sounds like the “old Bette” and Tina sounds like the “old Tina” why is that???? Hmmmmm. What is Tina so fearful of??? and Bette she needs to get more focused on her family and attentive!!! PPS

    2. Geeze…this is their second time around…don’t tell me it’s a repeat of this again…have they learned nothing? Why would Bette not be happy…she obviously wanted another baby, she did the insemination?

    3. Ruh-roh, Tina’s not gonna be able to keep that secret much longer, is she now? Maybe hurling in the kitchen sink isn’t a glaring enough hint for Bette… Tina should maybe start an impromptu knitting session… booties and onesies and a wee pastel-colored blankie… (whilst dinner gets cold and uneaten of course…) Yeah. Tina needs to tell Bette. And Bette had so better not fly off the handle in the inimitable Porter style. Post soon, please? Thanks!

    4. i can’t see why tina is so nervous… bette was there… so its not like a shock… she should just tell tell… i’m sure bette will be very happy
