    Bette has to decide when to call Tina

    I saw them before they saw us and she was just beautiful. That red shirt she had on looked so soft and I wanted to touch it but knew that I couldn’t. Alice was too busy looking around but Cammy was looking at me and then toward Tina. When our eyes met, she smiled and leaned over and whispered to me that she would make herself scarce. I smiled back at her hoping she would take Alice and Tina’s friend with her.

    Tina introduced us to Dana. I think I had heard the name before but wasn’t one to really follow sports. Alice knew who she was and they started in on a discussion. Cammy excused herself and it was just Tina and I. Just what I wanted until that moment and then I was scared. I didn’t know how we were playing this off and I didn’t want to say the wrong thing. I finally just asked her how she had been and that opened the door.

    I was able to find out she was from North Carolina and had moved to LA for school. We were having a good conversation and barely noticed when Alice and Dana went to dance. Tina and I were discussing moving away from family and friends to start somewhere new.

    “Do you miss North Carolina?” I asked her.

    “Not really. I miss my parents but that’s about it. I get home enough and they come out here a couple times a year. How about you? Do you miss Chicago?”

    “Only in the winter. I love snow and I miss that but I love it here.  I can’t imagine going back there to live.”

     Just as I was about to ask her another question, a mistake from my past walked up. Sammy and I had met through some friends and gone out a couple of times. She was not just a one night stand. I had liked her but she came with too much drama. She had an ever present ex who didn’t handle the breakup well. She was between jobs and not looking too hard for a new one. The biggest thing that made me run for the hills was that she smoked pot like I drank coffee. If I weren’t a cop that may not have been a problem but her car always reeked, her apartment reeked….I couldn’t allow myself to be surrounded with that and still have my job. The sex was really good and I did miss that but she was someone who had not a lot going for her at the time and I was not going to allow her to bring me down with her.

    2. Love how you’ve given both versions of this. Alice too funny. I know just how that is. ONce one of my friends, did it in my car, like 1min. from being home. Come on though, when are the going to really see each other. Hoping Bette going with her art and gives up being a cop.

    4. You just had to throw in a little trip to delay the date, you are evil. You tease us with Tina telling Bette they don’t have to wait until the 23rd and then you hit us with a trip to Spokane. I’m with Zheese…More, now, please!!!!

    6. If I was Tina I’d want to hear from Bette before the trip to set up the date for after. Looks like you are allowing room for Tina to feel that Bette has lost inerest and then some drama will follow no doubt ; ) Or perhaps you don’t want to torture us???

    9. Oh NAG, I can never get enough of you. No matter how many pages you write…or stories for that matter, I always want more. This was great. It won’t be two months, but it will be the 2 chapters I’ll bet like I suspected until they actually go out. That’s O.K., I will anticipate the whole time.

    11. I loved how Tina jumped in to help out Bette with this sammy woman. Alice all out of it and talking about Dana was fun. Now not only does it look like Bette and Tina may start to date but Alice may have finally found someone else besides Gabby.

    12. very nice! now, we don’t want Tina getting all het up about Bette not calling for a couple of days, so how about Bette breaks down and calls before she goes to Spokane, and maybe they get toegther for dinner, and then maybe……? LOL!
