Bette stood up and looked at Tina who gave her an encouraging smile before she set her purse down on the chair beside Tina and began making her way to the witness stand. "Holy Shit how did I get steamrolled into this?" Bette thought. "Just say what I know about the Peabody Stamp and the sperm donor and it will all go well." Bette kept in the forefront of him mind as the swearing in process proceeded.
Jack approached Bette now seated in the witness stand. "Ms. Porter could you state your name and occupation."
"Elizabeth Porter, I am the Director and CEO of the California Arts Center." Bette responds willing herself to be as calm as her voice sounded.
"In that capacity you are qualified to identify the stamp that appears in each of the photographs in question are you not?"
"Yes I am." Bette gets out just before Jason stand and shouts "OBJECTION"
"Ms. Porter is the ‘life partner’ of Christina Kennard and as such should not be used in this manner." Jason addresses is to the Judge.
Jack responds after Jason’s outburst. "If it would please the court, we could call another expert but that would mean a days delay. Ms. Porter here has been in the field of Art for over twenty years. As such she has her own personal experience in dealing with the Peabody Foundation and what having that stamp on artwork signifies. She is more than qualified to testify to this point."
The Judge takes a moment to consider this matter, looking to both Jason and Jack. "Overruled. Mr. Kramer you may continue."
"Thank you your honor." Jack says graciously as he turns back to Bette. "Ms. Porter what is this stamp and what does it mean?" Jack is pointing to the lower right hand corner of one of the photographs.
"It is the Peabody Foundation Stamp. This stamp is placed on work when it is commissioned and paid for by the Peabody Foundation." Bette responds.
"I see. Can you explain the significance of this stamp?" Jack goes on.
"Certainly. The Peabody Foundation is an excellent friend to the artist community. They often time will identify an artist as someone gifted and who’s works will be a contribution for the world. Having made this determination they like to place their stamp upon the work to let the world know they have approved of this artist and that the work belongs to them. It’s works similarly to the wealthy patrons of old Europe who commissioned work and then would send it on traveling exhibitions to show the work off. The Peabody Foundation pays for the work to be created and then allows the artist to exhibit the work in shows throughout the world. The only requirement is that such work needs to carry the Peabody Stamp." Bette concludes.

OK ive waited so long for that and YES YES YES it was so worth it,right now i dont really care about Helena tho i know its a huge part of the story!!! i think youve done an amazeing job with not just this chapter but this whole complicated intense story…Excuse me now but im going to go back and read it again…sigh!
Ah, Helena gets a royal kick in the behind and Bette & Tina are complete, I like that just fine! Great Peggy P.
Finally, the last secret is out, great how you got Helena out of the courtroom, is Helena going to prison, dying to find out what happens.

I really wanted to comment earlier about how Tina will be when she finds out that Bette was there and Bette didn’t tell her. I was hoping that you will write a compassionate and understanding Tina (of Bette’s promise to Dr. Wilson) but I didn’t want to influence you; but my gut feeling told me that you will write this chapter as you did. It is definetly not too long. I think Helena finally realizes the consequences of her actions. I wonder if Peggy will have the resources/power to get Helena out of this one. How can you be angry with someone that loves you that much? Helena will look good in Jail house orange. It a shame that Peggy has to go throught this. She has always done so much for so many. Helena didnt know that Bette knew that the nurse was holding Tina hand. She is a wicked human bit of s**t. thanks
I loved Tina’s reaction, her understanding. There is so much love between them. What a way to reveal the secret. I thought Jack was going somewhere with his question to Bette about the authenticity of the photos and then boom, there it was. Good job, J. Now, on to the finale too see what Helena gets!! Excellent!!! This story is phenomonal abd beautifully written. I have enjoyed it so much and i will be sad to see it go. However I believe you have taken the story as far as it could go. I hope this is not the last I read from you..maybe a B&T beginning with a twist?!? until then I will be rereading your other story(the title just left my mind. Can’t wait for the next chapter!!!
This is the one I’ve been waiting for and it was perfect. Bette deserved a private moment to tell Tina she witnessed their child’s birth and you found a wonderful way to do it. Thank you for kicking Helena to the curb in a way that she couldn’t be rescued by money. Now I’m ready to say goodbye to this masterfully written story. You’ve earned a rest and I’ll be here patiently awaiting whatever you write.

This is unfuckingbelievable, when Bette say the nurse that was holding Tina’s hand, I gasp and shock that she did say it out loud in court and happy that Tina know, they are talk and everything good now. This is awesome and about Helena is funny and love to see every step she going down, Peggy is good. Now let see what’s next, thanks!

You have taken us on so many adventures since I first started reading From Afar. Thank you for your wonderful friendship and all the fun I had when you allowed me to share and be a part of this.
