“Hey ladies” Bette smiled as she walked up to the table. She looked at Tina and smiled before taking a seat next to her.
“Hey” Tina smiled “Did everything go alright at the gallery?”
“The gallery?” Alice asked, raising her head “You went to the gallery today? I thought you made a rule to yourself to never work on Sundays?”
“Well…I…” Bette stuttered “I had a meeting I needed to prepare for”
Tina eyed her curiously as Bette gave her a small smile. The truth was that the gallery had only been an excuse for her to leave Tina’s place that morning. She did feel bad for lying to the blonde but there was no way she could tell her why she actually left, if Tina knew how she felt about her then everything would change. She needed to come up with an excuse to why they couldn’t continue their arrangement and it needed to be an excuse that didn’t open up to a lot of questions.
“So Alice where is Dana?” Bette asked her friend, trying to change the subject.
“She’s training, she’ll be here in a little while”
“She works out a lot huh?”
“Yeah it’s crazy” Alice said, shaking her head “But she’s a professional tennis player, she needs to work out a lot I mean it’s her job”
“I bet she has a great body” Shane smirked and looked at Alice who playfully hit her arm “Stay away from her Casanova” Alice warned as Shane chuckled.
“Bette?” a woman asked, walking up behind Bette. Bette turned around and froze as she saw the brunette standing before her.
“Karen?”
“Oh my God” Karen laughed “I haven’t seen you in so long”
Bette smiled as she stood up to hug the brunette “How are you?”
“I’m great” Karen smiled “and you?”
“I’m good” Bette smiled but the smile quickly faded as a man walked up and put his arm around the brunette.
“Oh this is my husband Owen” Karen said, giving Bette a small smile.
“Your husband?” Bette said slowly.
“Yeah…um we got married three months ago…I would have invited you it’s just…”
“No it’s fine” Bette interrupted her “I wouldn’t have gone anyways” she said shrugging her shoulders.
An awkward silence enveloped them as Alice, Shane and Tina intently watched on.
