    Family Sunday

    They all laughed.

“Hi, Ms. Tee-na,” AJ yelled from the pool.

    “Hi, AJ.”

Tina stood next to Bette and looked at the garden. Bette watched her out of the corner of her eye. Bette was so happy she decided to bring the garden back to life three months ago. And she was even happier she watered it this morning after her swim.

“I’m glad you’re here,” Bette said shyly.

Tina showed all of her chin dimples.

“I wouldn’t have missed it,” Tina responded.

    “You look beautiful.”

    Tina bit her lip.

    “Thank you. So, do you.”

    “Thank you.”

AJ and Shane came running up to them.

    “I’m hungwy.”

    “Me too,” Alice chimed in.

    “Everything’s ready,” Kit said.

“Let me wrap you in this towel, Monkey Man.”

    “Can Ms. Bette do it?”

Bette looked down at AJ and smiled. She took the towel from Lexie, crouched down and wrapped him up like a burrito.

“How am I supposed to eat?” AJ smiled.

    “Oh,” Bette giggled.

She unwrapped him and then rewrapped him with his arms out. Tina watched and she absentmindedly put her hand on her stomach.

“The garden looks…well taken care of,” Tina whispered.

    Bette nodded and smiled.

    “How was Disneyland,” Alice asked.

    “It was gweat!”

    “So much fun,” Adam said.

    “Magical.”

“We rwode all the rwides and we went on this boat thing and Mommy and Daddy kissed.”

    Adam grabbed Lexie’s hand.

    “What was it called, Mommy?”

    “Umm…it was…”

“The Na’vi River Journey,” Bette and Tina said simultaneously.

    “Yes, that’s it,” Lexie said.

“Did you and Ms. Tee-na kiss on it too?”

All eyes were on Bette. Bette looked over at Adam and Lexie. They nodded. Then she glanced at Tina. She saw a smile tugging at the corner of Tina’s mouth. She missed her mouth.

    “Umm…we…did,” Bette said.

Everyone looked around. Alice sipped on her straw. Then AJ fed Bette a grape.

    “Thank you.”

    “Welcome.”

    Bette cleared her throat.

    “When is Dana coming home?”

“She’s trying to make it to Family Sunday. But she wasn’t sure because the sponsors wanted to take her to a late lunch.”

“I’m so proud of her,” Tina said.

    “Me too,” Alice lit up.

Tina made it a point to sit by an empty chair. Bette made it a point to sit in the empty chair next to Tina. The music was playing through the speakers. They ate and laughed and talked. It was perfect. Bette looked at Tina. It had been a long time. Tina sensed what Bette was feeling.

    1. Great chapter!

Bette and AJ and together with Tina, he is so smart and adorable! Very clever from him to let them join him in the pool.

Bette is ready to try to rebuild their relationship and Tina comes with that line, “Things that will most likely break your heart…some more.”. But they have to make a clean start and this is necessary to put everything out and then away to never come back.

I’m sad the end is coming but also looking forward to the next chapter.

      • Thank you so much! I’ll be tackling a GenQ storyline when I’m done with this one. This my first attempt at fanfic and it has been such a privilege writing this story. When it’s all done, I’ll go back and read it from start to finish to see what I could’ve done better.

Bette is ready to rebuild but she’s also nervous. She portrays alpha but we know she’s fragile. So I’m excited to see how Tina navigates her fragility and how Bette hopefully starts to forgive her. But I don’t know. We shall see.

Next chapter is going to be a doozy for sure!

AJ is my absolute favorite. I kinda wish I wrote him as an orphan or something. I love the way Bette and AJ interact.

        • You are a great writer, your writing style is really good, don’t think you have to change anything. I especially love how you write their inner thoughts. The story flows and keeps you wanting more.

I adore AJ, maybe you can add him in your new story. Bette doing something for a orphan house, they meet and Bette and him bond immediately and Bette wants to adopt him, giving him the warm and loving home he deserves. I am adopted and it would be so great to read something like that. But whatever you’re new story will be about, i will certainly read it!
