    Dawn of a new day

“I never felt that mother. You were threatening me with disinheritance and you were always throwing Bette in my face. Some of what Kelly said to me that night fueled my contempt for both of you.” Helena admitted.

“What did my daughter say to you?” Martha asked again taking control. Anyone could see that Peggy and Helena had a boatload of unresolved issues and probably years of therapy ahead of them to get through it but this wasn’t the time. Martha had to know the depth of Kelly’s instigations.

“I told her my feelings about Bette replacing me as my mother’s daughter and heir. She said that although you had your differences she would never tolerate you replacing her with someone else in the family hierarchy. She said I shouldn’t just step aside and let Bette Porter steal my birthright. She said I needed to fight to keep it.”

Peggy could sense that Martha wanted to keep them on track talking about Kelly but she couldn’t sit quietly hearing all the misconceptions that Helena had about Bette. She needed to set the record straight with Helena and with Martha as her witness.

“Helena darling Bette didn’t ‘steal’ your birthright. You gave it up. Your behavior was intolerable. I couldn’t in good conscience allow the Peabody legacy to be left in your hands. You had control. It was your choice to go against the standards and moral values that your father and I set for our family. My threat to cut you out had nothing to do with Bette and everything to do with you.”

“Then why did you use Bette to threaten me? Why did you say that you would leave everything to her and her children? Why are you claiming them as yours?” Helena countered now that Peggy had opened the wound.

“Helena you never gave me any indication that you would ever settle down long enough to have a family. You said you didn’t want to be the birth mother to any children. Just because I was able to fulfill the dream of having a grandchild from Bette doesn’t mean that I don’t want that from you. It was bad judgment on my part to use Bette in that manner. I regret doing it but that is no excuse for your behavior. You need to take responsibility for yourself and your actions and stop blaming everybody else. Kelly might have said some things to instigate a reaction but she doesn’t control you. Martha and I are here to find out what Kelly is up to and how much you are involved. If you expect things to continue as they are with your acceptance into this family now is the time to show where your loyalties are. We need you to be honest and upfront about everything that went on between you two.”

    1. I was just completing and sending my comment from the last chapter when I discovered this new chapter. So happy that Bette told Tina about her history. It is important that they have nothing between that would affect their lives in the future. Its great that Tina is mature enough and sure of herself to understand all that has transpired in Bettes’ life and still be able to love and share in their love and future plans. All these negative things have changed and colored Bettes’ life in a significant way and now Tina understands the nuances that makes Bette the woman that she has become yet still love her to the bone. Wonderful chapter. Thanks for posting.

    2. Also happy that helena seems to have redeemed herself with her mother. I just hope she carries through and not warn those two hellish bitches of their impending doom. Can hardly wait to see what happens next. Enjoying these chapters so much. Thanks.

    3. Dang BAT!! It’s hard trying to catch up with your story as you post faster than I can read your chapters but you are doing such an excellent job even if I haven’t commented in a few chapters!

I love that Bette is fully opening up and trusting Tina enough to share her history with Jodi as it gives Tina a better understanding of how that has been a part of what has shaped Bette into the woman she is. I love how you have Tina so supportive of Bette and sure of where she is in Bette’s life now. Helena seems to be showing some redeeming qualities and that’s good to see and of course I just love your Peggy in this story. Kelly and Jodi really don’t stand a chance with Peggy looking out for things

    4. Thanks BAT – Loved it!

What a great chapter, thank you:

for taking the Peggy/Helena relationship to a better level and expanding their characters

for strengthening Bette/Tina’s relationship by Bette trusting the full story and Tina showing such strength and support

Beautifully written and great storytelling as always look forward to your next post.

    5. Just wanted to tell you that I am still reading but I didn’t comment because I read this story before and remember especially this part of the story. So not to give anything away I am staying away from commenting but know I always follow your exceptional writing.

    6. Bat, it was a great chapter. you bring together miraculously. I loved the part where Peggy and Martha “interrogation led Helena” :D
It was really great to see that Helena honestly told the story, and she regretted what she had done. the change in the behavior of Helena is the most positive thing for me. I hope to stay that way!
I’m very glad to Bette, was able to honestly say Tina, what did Jodie. Tina supportive, loving and compassionate behavior was the best.
Overall, it was a wonderful chapter.

    7. I am lost, it’s hard to comment when i read the comments from the others, i agree with all of them.

I have read this story before but can’t remember everything, so for me it is so good as new.

You are a fantastic writer and i love this story.

Thank you for the quick updates!

    8. Thanks BAT, it was a profound chapter and so well written. I loved the way you handled the conversation between Helena and the two moms and how mature she had become in being honest with herself and Peggy. Sometimes words do need to be said in order for healing to take place.
I also love the place where Tina and Bette are in their relationship in being open and honest with one another. Relationships are hard and do take lots of work to be the best they can be. I have a good feeling that Bette and Tina are well on their way to that kind of relationship.
      Thanks for this amazing story.

    9. Wonderful, Bette finally bare your soul
Tina was a chapter without a doubt
      exceptional! You describing Bette counting
which suffered, and treatment to heal this wound, Tina came
understand all the reasons to have both Bette
care to relate to it, is with Tina
devote more sincere and loyal love for Bette at that time.
      Congratulations !!!!
      all stars
