I never really ended my treatments with Emma but after Amy I went back into intensive therapy. Emma helped me to understand how dysfunctional the relationship was and the damage it had caused by opening up some of the old wounds from Jodi’s attack. If Jodi orchestrated Amy or rather Agatha’s treatment of me she would know what buttons to push.” The revelations made Bette sick to her stomach.
“How did you break it off with her?” Tina asked understanding now why Bette was so hesitant about wanting to get involved with her when they first met. Despite the therapy, the breakthroughs and against Bette’s best efforts there was still some residual effect in her ability to trust or allow anyone to get close.
“I didn’t. Amy just disappeared from my life without saying a word. One day I dropped by the college to surprise her and take her to lunch. When I drove up I spotted her in the parking lot kissing another woman. I knew she wasn’t monogamous when we met but we were supposedly in an exclusive relationship so it blew me away that she was cheating on me. I confronted her and we had a big fight. She apologized and promised me that it didn’t mean anything and would never happen again. She said she didn’t even enjoy the sex with the other woman because I’d spoiled her for anyone else. She told me she loved me and she wanted only me. Stupid me … I forgave her.
I thought we were back on track. She was loving and attentive. It felt like we’d gotten over the rough patch. Everything seemed normal until she took off again. I thought it was another one of her moods so I gave it a couple of days. Imagine my shock when I heard from a colleague that she’d quit her job at the college and moved out of her loft. Rumor had it that she was commissioned to do some huge art project in Canada. She left New York without ever contacting me to tell me her plans. I tried calling, and emailing, and texting but she ignored all my messages for weeks then she changed her numbers and email addresses. I didn’t know how to reach her after that so I finally gave up. I never saw her again and I have no idea where she is now.
I left New York and returned to WeHo once the house was finished. I went into therapy and tried once again to put my life back together. I rekindled my dream of wanting someone special to spend my life with and starting a family but I was sabotaging my own efforts. I had such a hard time opening my heart to love again. Things were so dark back then that I never imagined a year later my dream would be wrapped in my arms and that we would be expecting a baby in just two weeks but here we are.” Bette finished her heart wrenching story.
Tina turned in Bette’s arms so they were facing. She kissed Bette’s tear streaked cheeks and then found her mouth. They slowly undressed and made love to each other with abandon right there on the beach. They took a moonlight swim in the nude then went back to the blanket and made love all through the night. In the early morning hours they got dressed and walked back to the house not expecting anyone to be awake at that time. They didn’t notice Helena who had fallen asleep on a lounge chair outside on her bedroom balcony watching them. They went to Bette’s bedroom which they now shared. They showered together and made love again as the water cascaded over their joined bodies. It was as if they couldn’t get enough of the feeling of closeness that enveloped them. They finally succumbed to sleep wrapped in each other’s arms as the sun peaked over the horizon. Bette’s bad karma cloud had finally lifted. It was the dawn of a new day.

I was just completing and sending my comment from the last chapter when I discovered this new chapter. So happy that Bette told Tina about her history. It is important that they have nothing between that would affect their lives in the future. Its great that Tina is mature enough and sure of herself to understand all that has transpired in Bettes’ life and still be able to love and share in their love and future plans. All these negative things have changed and colored Bettes’ life in a significant way and now Tina understands the nuances that makes Bette the woman that she has become yet still love her to the bone. Wonderful chapter. Thanks for posting.
Also happy that helena seems to have redeemed herself with her mother. I just hope she carries through and not warn those two hellish bitches of their impending doom. Can hardly wait to see what happens next. Enjoying these chapters so much. Thanks.
Dang BAT!! It’s hard trying to catch up with your story as you post faster than I can read your chapters but you are doing such an excellent job even if I haven’t commented in a few chapters!
I love that Bette is fully opening up and trusting Tina enough to share her history with Jodi as it gives Tina a better understanding of how that has been a part of what has shaped Bette into the woman she is. I love how you have Tina so supportive of Bette and sure of where she is in Bette’s life now. Helena seems to be showing some redeeming qualities and that’s good to see and of course I just love your Peggy in this story. Kelly and Jodi really don’t stand a chance with Peggy looking out for things

It was really great to see that Helena honestly told the story, and she regretted what she had done. the change in the behavior of Helena is the most positive thing for me. I hope to stay that way!
I’m very glad to Bette, was able to honestly say Tina, what did Jodie. Tina supportive, loving and compassionate behavior was the best.
Overall, it was a wonderful chapter.

Thanks BAT, it was a profound chapter and so well written. I loved the way you handled the conversation between Helena and the two moms and how mature she had become in being honest with herself and Peggy. Sometimes words do need to be said in order for healing to take place.
I also love the place where Tina and Bette are in their relationship in being open and honest with one another. Relationships are hard and do take lots of work to be the best they can be. I have a good feeling that Bette and Tina are well on their way to that kind of relationship.
