“I didn’t miss anything did I?”
“No Baby Girl… you made it in time” Dana let out a sigh. She knew she would be cutting it close and didn’t want to miss witnessing this event that was so important to their entire family.
“Kennard-Porter adoptions” the clerk called out from his desk.
“This is it” Tina said to Bette
“This IS it T!… Let’s go guys” The all stood and took their place at the long table set up in front of the judge.
“Tina Kennard”
“Yes your honor”
“And you must be Bette Porter?”
“Yes your honor”
“And who do we have here?”
“My name is Skyler Mam”
“I am Colin Mam”
“My name is Hailey. It’s nice to meet you Mam”
“Well well well… such polite young children.”
“Thank you” they said in unison.
“You are very welcome.”
“I understand we are here today for the final adoption hearings for both Ms. Kennard and Ms. Porter. I have reviewed your petitions and the final report from the social worker. I have just a few questions for you. Ms. Kennard I understand that you are petitioning for adoption of not only Colin, but also for Ms. Porter’s unborn child is that correct?”
“Yes your honor.. but his name is Gavin.”
“Gavin?.. The paperwork says Colin.”
“Yes your honor. It is Colin, but the baby his name is Gavin.” Tina instantly wished she had kept her mouth shut, but just couldn’t stand to hear her baby referred to as the ‘unborn child’
“I see.” Judge Kroll got a knowing smile. She herself hated it when someone referred to one of her kids in such a manner while she was pregnant.
“I’m sorry your honor.”
“No need to apologize Ms. Kennard I understand.”
Tina just smiled for fear of sticking her foot in her mouth.
“Ms. Kennard you realize that if I grant this adoption your responsibilities and roll in these children’s lives will be no different than if you gave birth to them yourself. Are you prepared to accept full responsibility for these children?”

Yes! would be the appropriate answer! Now go on now and get married, you can have the big wedding later, I mean your friends and family are all there so what’s the harm, plus didn’t you say there was a surprise celebration, how convient! PPS
