    Collision Course 4.57 – Real Wild Child(ren)

“That was Sydney’s birthday present, a little early, it being tomorrow and all, but happy very sweet sixteen baby girl,” said Spencer and Sydney hugged her hard, an unusual move for Spencer to allow someone into her personal space.

“How did she do that?” asked Bette of Jo who was looking down at her feet, chiding herself for having doubted her daughter’s abilities.

“Redirection of human energy,” said Shelby who’d moved over to Jo and Bette.  “Sorry, I overheard, listen Mike and I have to go, and the lovely STARS over there said they were crashing the beach house?” asked Shelby.

“So I hear,” said Jo with a deep breath.  “That ok?”

“Yeah, it’s safe,” smiled Shelby.  “It nice to finally meet you, Bette, since Jo’s been bragging about you in her emails…”

“She has, has she?” asked Bette as Jo blushed.

“Thank you so much Shelby,” growled Jo.  Mike came over, his arm around his daughter, “Sydney, you bribed my daughter into singing, nice.”

“She asked what I wanted for my b-day, it was that or a BMW…,” giggled the girl.  “And since I don’t have my license yet, I asked for the song.  Mom, Dad, see you tomorrow?” asked Sydney.

                “You bet, kiddo,” smiled Mike.

“God, I remember being kiddo,” laughed Jo seeing that Spencer and the rest of the girls had disappeared somewhere.

“We’ll call you before we leave,” said Mike, kissing Jo’s cheek and Shelby and Mike made an exit.

Everyone gathered back at the table, Quin hanging back, Becca had left it seemed, either with a fan, or just gone home, since it was after midnight and she had an earlier call time than Quin did.

“The daughter said they were off to the beach house, something about skinny dipping in the pool,” said Amy raising her glass to the table.

“Hmmm, skinny dipping,” said Alice dreamily.

“Not me,” said Rosita and Lara at the same time.

“Count me in,” said Carmen slamming her glass on the table.

“Um…  where exactly are we going?” asked Bette.

“Sam’s,” said Helena with a smile.  “Since she and Sam seem to have forgotten about us, I think it’s time we go find them, don’t you think?”

Bette looked at Jo, Bette shrugged, throwing up her hands, “Sure, let’s go.”

“The most spoken line in movie history,” said Jo and Tina unison.

Everyone laughing, Helena was calling limo’s to take them to Sam’s, Alice was ordering alcohol for the impromptu party.

    CC

“Well, they are here, the lights are on,” said Carmen as she banged on the door.  There was no answer, so Carmen moved over to the small potted plant, digging her fingers into the loose dirt.

“She hides a key out here?” asked Emma thinking that was a bad move all around.

“She does,” said Carmen everyone waiting to get inside, she unlocked the door, pushing in, and yelling, “Sam!  Shane!  Where are you?”

“What the…?” said Shane who darted out of the bedroom that was once Jesse’s, behind her was Sam and a young boy, about eight, causing everyone who was piling into the house to come to an abrupt halt, stumbling and piling up against one another like a bad Laurel and Hardy movie.

“Holy shit, they didn’t just move in together, they got a kid!” called out Alice throwing up her hands, thinking the world had now turned on it’s ear if Shane McCutcheon had adopted a kid.

    1. I continue to be amazed at your ability to seamlessly interweave so many storylines and keep them all so engaging. Knowing from your other stories that you do not hesitate to bump off main characters, I envisioned heartbreak ahead when you paired Bette with Jo. I decided I had nothing to worry about since its hard to kill a vampire. Then you go and make Jo human. sigh. Every time I open a new chapter, I am worried about what’s gonna happen. Loved this chapter with all of the characters appearing. Oh, and Tina deserves a love interest.

    2. hmm. i like this chapter, it’s amazing how you have so many characters in this story though, and everyone likes them. Awesome, i love Riley and Spencer, hint hint

    3. I *knew* Gabe would want something. Scumbag. Welp, Shane’s going to have to do some adjusting, and fast. The rest of the chapter was fantastic, I loved the games, and Alice and her strategy with the underwear, ha! Amy’s going to have to get over Jo, cos it looks like she’s stickin, no matter what Amy pulls. Quin and Tina, I think you gave us a bit more than a glimmer there… Great chapter, Janet, thanks.

    4. Trying to bring the whole group together and in harmony was a feat that you did do very well. Quin and Tina I can see that better than she and Amy. Alice is still the class clown. I loved the longer chapter. How can anyone walk off and leave a child??? Okay,I,m going in the Hospital April 25 for a complete shoulder replacement. Don’t mop the F**king floor bare foot. this has been going on since 8 of Aug 06 . Can’t do much with one arm in a sling and your right arm at that. I still do all the work but I do get tired. So if I pass my Phyical.it a go. So I’ll be able to read but the Dr said in about a year I would be 95% as good as new. Hell at my age just getting out of bed is good. Love this Love Sam and Shane. You take care and write a lot. get me a book out. I can alway read. Take care and rest. thanks bvh

    5. Don’t know why I con’t to be amazed by the amt. of characters you have interacting w/ one another in a post like this, but I am. The games were funny. Jo & Bette making up was sweet. Loved all the flirtation & hook ups w/ the couples, teens & adults. I guess cause Sam has so much it means so little when Gabe runs off w/ just a car. Def. know you’re a busy lady but glad to know you’re still working on the other fics. Loved it, JM.
