Chapter XXVIII – Empire State of Mind – Sirens
She looked around the SUV, and found what she was looking for. The corporate security firm had packed the SUV with everything she’d asked for, plus many extras. ”All our latest toys, doll,” her friend had drawled in his Texas twang as he tossed her the keys. She thanked him with kiss on the cheek and a grateful hug.
Still, she was a cautious person and she’d swept through the SUV with her own latest toys, pulling into a neighborhood street of a suburb next to the sprawling campus of the security firm in the technology corridor near the Dulles airport area, in order to do so. She wanted to make sure there was no hidden surveillance equipment in the SUV or in the equipment that had been prepared for her. She picked up the late model binoculars from one knapsack, and a long-range camera from the camera bag next to it. She was about to shut the door when she decided to sling a couple of sniper rifles onto her back, to practice using their scopes. Her friend had said the rifles were very new to the market, and Miller had never handled them before. She’d need to find a range somewhere to practice shooting from them, too. In the meantime, she might as well get used to handling their scopes.
She alighted from the car and crouched low to crawl through the tall grass to get to the top of a hill from which she could surveil Peter’s estate and the surrounding grounds. She lowered herself to a flat space on the ground and re-checked the time and date stamps on all the gear she’d brought with her. 12:30, they all read back to her. Good, everything synched. She checked the safeties on the rifles to make sure they were on.
She used the binoculars to scan her immediate surroundings. Nothing unusual. She did a wider sweep of the area, and still saw nothing unusual. Next she picked up her camera to see if she could take a few trial shots of the farthest distance the camera could reach.
She trained the camera towards the buildings in Peter’s estate. The lens picked up images from it easily. Miller took a few shots and traced a line to what looked like the broad front door area of the handsome main house of the estate, taking a series of continuous shots.

Oh my God, you can’t stop the update like this.
Have to know how the girls are doing, are they wounded or the men. What is up with all the ambulances?
And Tina broke Millers heart and was back in time a cold bitch, never suspected that. However, everyone needs to grow and learn in life before they become the one they are now and still do.
incredible update, hope to see a update soon.
wow tina and his dark past, woo, when bette was found, poor bette
Great update love to see less drama but I know Bette needs to resolve the gold issue. Now who would have thought Tina had a past?
You need to post very soon, I need to know what happened and who got hit. Thanks
Oh cool, backstory on Tina. Now we can get more information on Tina “the younger years” While she lies in a medical induced coma to “protect the baby”. Bette, becomes obsessed to get even and we have a revengeful rouge chasing another self absorbed rouge. What else could you want for a Holiday break. Please keep writing, I’ll keep reading this wonderful imagery. I hope this log in worked
Wow! Tina has a mysterious past, I’m crazy
to know what it is.
Who was hit?
I await new chapter.
10 Stars.
I hope your New Year’s resolution is to finish this wonderful story. You can’t leave your loyal readers hanging like this! Who was shot? Does Bette find the gold? What about the baby? Bette’s heart condition? You would make my year if you were to give this story a great ending. I anxiously await an update.
