Bitter Endings, Sweet Beginnings: Part Five
“Is that so?” drawled Gabby, looking utterly amused.
“Yes, that is so,” replied Helena in snarky tones, her voice biting and
her eyes shooting daggers at the screenwriter. “I would advise you that
your paltry attempts at seduction are entirely in vain at this time.
No,” Helena smiled slowly, looking at Gabby with derisive disgust as
she wrapped an arm around Alice and gently pulled the blonde towards
her and safely away from Gabby’s grasp. “It’s simply in vain at any
time, from this moment forward.”
Gabby opened her mouth to reply but found her head jerked backwards in
a strangely compassionate gesture and was soon peering up into Jenny’s
smiling blue eyes. “Have a drink with me,” she said, her gaze guileless
and innocent but at the same time giving off the absolute impression
that to refuse would mean something very bad indeed.
Shivering at the sensation of elegant fingers stretching out, massaging
her scalp delightfully in the process, Gabby agreed almost
automatically, “Okay.”
Tangling her fingers out of Gabby’s hair to entwine them with fingers
of the screenwriter’s left hand, Jenny led them to the bar, winding
them expertly through the sea of women. By the time they reached their
destination, Gabby was finally awake from the dream like state that
Jenny’s inexplicably unusual but no less powerful presence often
created in those around her.
“What is this about?” Gabby demanded almost warily, watching Jenny
stand on her tip toes and lift her hands into the air, doing an
adorable hopping dance to get the bartender’s attention who was at the
opposite side of the bar. “What do you want?”
“I want another beer,” replied Jenny, bouncing on her toes and her
hands doing something that Gabby recognized to be spirit hands.
Although she wasn’t really sure how or why she recognized them to be
that. She just did. Becoming frustrated at being unable to gain the
bartender’s attention, Jenny turned to Gabby and announced, “I need
you.” The screenwriter could only blink at this before Jenny took her
hands and placed them on her hips. “You look strong,” she purred,
grinning mischievously at Gabby over her shoulder as she turned to face
the bartender again. “Help me up.”
Feeling utterly flummoxed and out of place for the first time in her
life, Gabby did as Jenny requested and helped to lift the brunette up.
Something that was ridiculously easy as she was light as a feather,
light enough that Gabby absently wondered if maybe this woman had some
sort of eating disorder. She was still occupied with these thoughts
when the bartender finally noticed suddenly taller Jenny and her wildly
waving spirit hands on the other side of the bar.

Tell them you have too many fans, checking daily for your wonderful writing to worry about such things like work or school or paying bills. Have you ever heard of Social Programs, they could help pay your bills, so you can devote all your time to us. LOL So glad to see you back, missed your writing.
