Bike Ride, Life – Chapter 9

Tina said “How does that feel baby? You feel better? Maybe just a little?”

Bette said “I do feel better Tina. Thank you for taking such good care of me”.

Tina said “Do you want to rest for a while sweetie? I think you have had a lot of excitement for today and you should try to get as much sleep as possible. Can you try to rest your eyes?”

Bette said “Will you lay with me Tina? I can fall asleep if you lay with me and hold me”.

Tina said “Oh Bette, I am not sure that is possible. I don’t know how I would …”

Tears started to form in Bette’s eyes. Tina knew that the events of the day, including Jodie and their follow up talk were beginning to take their toll on Bette and she needed to just release herself to sleep. Bette was not used to being out of control and right now, she had very little control over anything that was happening. Tina understood that Bette just needed to be held and decided that no matter what she could squish herself into that little hospital bed.

“…. I can do it Bette, I can make myself fit in there. You are going to be packed like sardines with me, but we will make it work, ok?”

Tina crawled on the left side of Bette, the side that did not have the broken leg and hip and managed to squeeze in on her side. Poor Bette tried to move herself over to accommodate Tina and give her more room, but the movement brought out an inadvertent yelp of pain.  Tina laid her head on the pillow and Bette rested her head against Tina’s. Bette put her arm protectively around Tina and slowly her breathing started to come steady and slow.  Listening to the rhythmic breathing of Bette lured Tina into a world of sleep. Nurses came in and out of the room to check equipment on Bette and nothing seemed to disturb the two lovebirds in their slumber.

They must have been asleep for a couple of hours and Bette’s pain medication must have started to wear off, because she started to mutter some moans that woke Tina from her deep sleepy state. Tina was still wedged into a small space on the bed, but felt refreshed to have slept some next to the love of her life. She yawned out loud and when she looked straight ahead noticed that Jodie came into clear focus.

    1. I agree with AmandaMG–this has to stop. Bette holds the key to ending things with Jodie. She just let Tina storm out. With Tina gone, Bette needs to put her foot down and make it plain with Jodie. End it NOW!!! I think you have enough storyline still with Bette needing rehab and the pressure her injuries will put on her and Tina in their renewed relationship. PPS

    2. Like Bette told Phyillis, some lesbians you have to break up with more than once. Just make sure that this is the last time! Totally diggin on this story!

    3. If Nette is afraid of hurting Jodie, she is slowly killing Tina. Bette needs to stop this now. Either let Jodie stay and take care of her or tell her to get lost. thanks

    4. Ditto to the advice given by your other readers. After getting Jodie out of the way, B and T need to get back to LA (perhaps Peggy Peabody’s jet could conveniently show up in “what the fuck, Oregon and carry out a mercy flight). Afterwards B and T can begin mending B’s broken body as well as their broken relationship.

    5. Alright Bette, tell jodi like it is. Tell jodi that she is history and needs to take a hike. Hopefully, Tina can regroup and be ready to enter Bette’s room with her soul knowing that Bette and her belong together.

    6. Finally Tina has told Bette how she feels about Jodi.I feel Jodi is being really insensitive but i have to admit if i was her i’d find it all heart renching. I mean to see Bette and Tina together to see Bette hurt, its alot to take in when it happens the way it did. the relationship still oblivious to Jodi what is really going on. I think you should talk about Jodi’s point of view and her feeling with Bette, also i would like to see Bette back at home with Angie.

    7. ITA with eveything posted above. If someone doesn’t get it you have to be the “bad guy”. I felt that Tina will burst at some point…and I loved it hehe… So let’s put Jodi in her place! Step off b*tch!

    8. Oh I just caught up. I love this story. I agree with just about everyone Bette needs to put the proverial foot down and give Jodi the heave ho. I do understand it’s harder than it sounds but poor Tina how much is she suppose to put up with. The question is what’s wrong with Jodi doesn’t she see the writing on the wall? Get chapter thanks J

    9. Tina was so right!!! Now Bette has to kick Jodie out on her ass for good. Bette and Tina need to find out when it will be safe to have Bette moved back to LA. Love This!!! Thank you
