Bike Ride, Life Ride – Chapter 8
With Bette’s last sentence, Jodie hung her head and stood there in silence. When she did not lift her head in several seconds Bette used her hand to life Jodie’s chin.
Bette said “Jodie, I am sorry. I don’t know what to say. This situation is not the way that I expected to tell you about this”.
Jodie signed and spoke simultaneously “Bette, are you having a physical relationship with Tina? How long have you been seeing her behind my back? I feel humiliated. I have been getting close to your friends and bike riding with Shane and I feel like a fool now. I am so confused why you pushed and pushed for monogamy only to cheat on me with Tina”.
Bette sighed and said “Jodie I don’t think it is helpful in anyway to discuss the nature of my relationship with Tina right now. Right now, we are talking about you and I. And although Tina does play a part in why we are breaking up, she is not the sole reason. I am not happy. I have not been happy. Something has felt missing for me. I wanted it to work out and I tried to make it fit, but I think we are fundamentally different people and it just was not in the cards for us to be together long term. I love you Jodie and I greatly admire you, but I am not in love with you. And I don’t know why I pushed for you to be monogamous with me and then started something with Tina. I wish I could answer that for you and for myself. I think that monogamy has been my habit and I wanted you to fit into my world and my ideals. I should not have tried to change you. You are a great person Jodie and a wonderful artist”.
Jodie said “So we are breaking up? Just like that. Like this in a hospital bed after you have been badly hurt and are recovering? Do you even know what you are saying? Does Tina just feel familiar to you? Is it easier for her to take care of you? Easier for you to be vulnerable with her?”
Bette said “It is easier for me to be vulnerable with Tina and it is easier for me to let her take care of me, but not because it is familiar Jodie, it is because I am desperately in love with her. I know what I am saying, even despite what I have been through”.

Beautiful chapter. PPVS
Well I am surprised that Jodie didn’t do more than she did but i knew something had to give, she played on Bette’s fears. I think you did an excellent job emphazing that yes Bette and Tina are together but that alone was not the only reason she broke up with Jodi. IC could have used your help writing that in 511.
Great chapter. Jodie really needs to go. I was laughing out loud right at the end there. PPS.
You’re doing great! I love this story.
Thanks for the great update. pps.
Tina does have legal P of A. I would excercise that right now. No more Jodie in the room alone with Bette, and if Tna so wanted to to keep her away from Bette altogther. Let Bette get well and them thing will change. I dont believe that Jodie loves Bette she doesn’t like to lose. thanks
I think I have already established the fact that I don’t like Jodi and I do not like Jodi and Bette together. I am a TiBette fan all the way. Jodi plays on Bette’s fears and the fact that although she is very alpha in the workplace, she is a big softie at home and she is unsure of emotional ties and the benefits of a relationship. She is always second guessing her feelings for Tina and Jodi and Tina’s for her because she had left before. Bette has never recognized the fact that Tina loves her dearly and she did some of the things she did because she loved Bette so deeply and did not want Bette to know that so she pretended that she no longer cared which could not have been further from the truth. Bette does not always see what is right in front of her. I felt so sorry for the nurse having to witness the affirmation of their love and care for each other. Poor thing, they forgot she was there, as they always do when they are with each other, they simply forget other people exist or are nearby. I loved her statement to Tina that she thought she had taken care of geetting her blood pressure under control. Please let Jodi get lost permanently, she is not good for Bette at all. Loved the chapter. Post when you can.
well jodie knew what buttons to push… now tina has to push back… block jodie from the hospital… that will piss her off even more… and not even let her call or leave messages at the nurses station… great chapter… keep it coming… PPS
Thank goodness Tina knows Bette as well as she does. Bette should not worry about Tina but they all need to worry about jodi.
Tina did save the day there. Hope Jodi doesn’t come back. pps
awesome chapter.
Great chapter, I knew Jodi would be a b***h and try to confuse Bette. I know she put her heart into this relationship and that was a first for her, but deep down she has to know eventually she would have hurt Bette manogamy is just not her thing. She is just upset that it happened to her first. PS
