The athlete didn’t reach for the juice; instead she dropped her copy of Lara’s apartment key on the counter then turned to leave.
The silence set the chef off.
“A year and you have nothing to say,” Lara questioned with a humorless chuckle?
Dana turned back to face her lover struggling to keep her anger in check, “What do you want me to say?”
“Something! Anything! I at least deserve…”
“You deserve,” Dana questioned loudly taking a step towards Lara. “You don’t deserve a God damn thing! You were the one practically fucking another girl on the dance floor of the Planet last night…then you probably spent the night fucking her didn’t you… that’s why your home so late…”
“I don’t know who told you I was at the Planet last night,” Lara began.
Dana just shook her head, “No one told me. I was there.”
“What do you mean you were there?”
“I went with Shane and Alice to meet up with Bette and Tina,” Dana said. Giving a laugh of her own, the brunette added, “I was feeling so bad last night about not being able to get a hold of you. I kept thinking, ‘wow I bet Lara would like this music.’ I guess I was right.”
“I’ve been trying for months to get you to go dancing… and you refuse every single time. Yet your friends ask you and you go,” Lara shouted.
“What the fuck does it matter now! If I took you dancing, you wouldn’t have cheated?… Bullshit!”
“You still don’t get it. You never fucking did…”
“Tell me Lara what is stupid Dana not getting…”
“You wouldn’t have taken me dancing! After a year you still fucking flinch if I touch you when we are out in public. I wanted to be your girlfriend outside these damn walls… I wanted people to know that we were a couple… that we were in love…”
“Same old argument- I am tired of this argument Lara,” Dana said walking around the apartment grabbing random things she left in the apartment, putting them in a gym bag.
“Will you just stop and talk to me… Dana…Dana…” Lara said as the brunette zipped up her bag obviously finished gathering her things.
“Why? We’re done Lara and as much of a fuck up I am, you did this….”
“No Dana,” Lara said with finality in her voice. “You did this. How can you ask someone you supposedly love to change a part of who they are just to make you more comfortable… just so no one finds out you are gay…because heaven forbid they found out the Dana Fairbanks likes to fuck girls.”
Dana was didn’t want to hear anymore, but there was one question bothering her, “How long have you been fucking Kim?”
“A week,” Lara replied with a shrug knowing she may as well lay all her cards out on the table.
Dana just nodded and walked out of the door.

Kim and Lara?… I was not just being paranoid, after all. Props to Lara for not starting the “… blah blah blah… I promise I will never do it again. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you… yada yada yada…” bullshit. It would have been pathetic. Yeah, Tonya was annoying, but if you get past that, she was pretty funny sometimes. So sorry to hear about your finger! Stupid paper and stupid work. I agree with everyone above about the excellent AlShaDane interaction. Kim and Lara? Holy moly. I didn’t see that coming. Love how supportive all her friends were. Dana did a good job with the breakup. Lara was wrong-wrong-wrong. If you don’t like Dana being closeted then break up with her. Don’t start screwing some other girl. Dana did her best in the relationship that she could. Hopefully this doesn’t turn Dana off dating and possibly starting something with a certain blonde. I love the conversation that AlShaDane had before arriving the club. I also appreciate the gang’s support and their excuses to follow D out of the Planet, especially A’s. The fat lady sang!!
