Angels and Mortals: Chapter 17-Family Days

    Sean: Yea. It’s business.

Alex; It’s bullshit Sean. I don’t like playing games with people.

Sean: Well that’s not how we do it.

Alex; It’s how I do it. If you don’t like it, find a new client.

Alex sighed as she walked through the door. She dropped her gym bag at the door, hung up her ball cap and walked into the kitchen to see Alice setting the table, with Brodie in his highchair. She smiled wide. She was tired and fed up with the political crap. She just wanted to play ball. Walking over, she wrapped her arms around Alice, and immediately dropped her head on Alice’s shoulder. Much better.

    Alice; Hey you. Long day?

Alex just nodded, melting into her wife. Alice rubbed small circles on her back, kissing her temple.

Alice: I made roast beef for dinner.

    Alex smiled.

Alice: And after dinner, we’ll drop Brodie off at Auntie Casey and Rory’s house, then mommy and daddy can have desert.

    Alex groaned.

Alex: I’ve gotta go to a girl scouts thing at 6. We’re doing the campfire with Mandy again. I was kinda hoping you’d tag along.

Alice: Well, then I’ll go and make sure you don’t break her heart again. Besides, it means I get to hear you sing.

    Alex smiled.

Alex: I didn’t break her heart.

    Alice: Babe, she cried.

Alex: I just told her she didn’t have a chance. Which is completely true because one, I’m not letting you go, and even if I did, I’d have to find someone who’s at least close to you.

Alice: Alex, Mandy Moore’s not used to hearing she doesn’t have a chance. And you’ll never find anyone even close.

    Alex; I’ll clone you.

They smiled at each other. Alice leaned in and kissed her. Then, Brodie threw a crayon at them. It hit Alex square in the head.

    Alex: Hey!

She rubbed the spot. Alice took her head in her hands, and checked through her hair, then kissed the spot.

Alice: You’ll live. Come on, lets eat.

Alex looked out at all the little faces around the campfire. This was the best part about being famous: inspiring all these young, hopeful souls. This is what she signed up to do, not play stupid games to get more money out of people. She didn’t need any more money. She shook her head. If Alice could read my thoughts, I’d be dead. She heard the last verse of the song Mandy was singing. She looked over at the young woman who held the guitar, as she finished. The girls applauded. Then, the councilor introduced her.

    1. Yay for a new chapter! Alice and Alex seem to be settling in well as parents. The milk squirting thing was a tad gross, but, Alice was a heck of a shot. And it seems their sex drive has not diminished. Hot!! Alex was so cute in meeting Michael Jordan. “BAMless” — Hee! Sucks to get bad porn. At least they had Backyardigans and not Barney after that. Thanks for the update, IAmAlexM!!
