    Chapter 6. A B&T Story.

    Bette pulled the car off the curb once the girls disappeared behind the front revolving door.  Bette felt a burst of pride seeing the positive transformation in Candace’s personalities.  The roughed and guarded young woman that she met 5 months ago has slowly transformed into an assertive and outgoing teenager.  Bette has also been deeply affected by this young person, a humbling experience at the most despondent time in her life.

    It was early into summer, Bette and Kit Porter arrived at the DCFS office in LA to talk with Roberta Grey, a social worker regarding a teenage girl that claimed to be family.  Roberta directed Bette and Kit to a private room with a one-way glass that see into another room.  They saw a young girl sitting by a desk, dressed in baggy jean, hooded gray sweatshirt that pulled up to hide her unruly curls. 

    “Her name is Candace Jewel and she just turned 15,” Roberta explained, inviting both women to join her at the desk, she pulled Candace’s file out for confirmation.

    “There’s a possibility that she is your half sister Ms. Porter and if possible, we’d like to place her with family versus various foster homes.  If you need confirmation, we can do a DNA match before committing her to your care.”

    “What???”

    The week following their outburst at the library drifted both women physically apart.  Tina was out of her mind being in close quarter to Bette and unable to come to term with her own feeling.  While Bette, fight a raging internal battle with her belief in doing things right against the indescribable need to take hold of Tina and never let go.

    Tina walked around campus in knots not having any close friends to talk to about her situation.  Her unintended steps pass the residence hall where Bette lived several times, Tina’s confidence waver at the prospect of seeing Bette in an enclosed space.  She sighed and reluctantly walked toward the Art & Architecture building, hoping to catch a glimpse of Bette there without being notice.   Tina slipped in on the side door, take a quick scan of the study area and saw Jenny, no Bette.  She felt disappointed but relieved to see Jenny, hoping Bette’s friend can answer some of her nagging questions.

    2. Thanks for the back story on Candace and for the kiss (durrrrrrr lol). Now I have to wonder what Leigh has to do with Tina. Things that make you go hmmm…

    6. Now, now Lament, I personally have nonething against you giving or getting a kiss from Curioust. Just as long as she has time to write and post her story. LOL Back to the stoy, I hope that Tina is going to call Bette. Communication ladies, communication :o)

    7. Oh goodie, Tina is going to step out again and reach for Bette. Happy that Candace is related to Bette and not after her. Too bad that show did not go with this angle since it was known that her father was one to step out on his wives. Shane and Candace make a cute couple. It will be nice to see how Bette takes to Tina contacting her. Loved how you explained their first meeting (Bette and Candace) and first contact of skin (Bette and Tina).

    8. Okay, am arrived only now to read chapter 5 and 6. So light slowly comes into the darkness. So Candace is Bette’s half-sister. We only need the solution for Bette’s accident now. And still it apparently is damaged by it physically. Do I see this right or why does everybody have such worries about Bette’s state of health? It becomes slowly time, this Bette and Tina meet and begin to close the gaps of their past. And I hope they will build up a future together.

    10. It is nice to know that Candace and Bette are sister’s. Please let Tina and Bette hook up real soon. Maybe just to talk . What up with Leigh? Thank you Great Chapter. PPS
