    Chapter 6. A B&T Story.

     

     

    Bette pulled the car to a stop in front of the Performance Art Center at Hollywood High.  Shane exited the car in her biker get up follow closely by Candace, in what else but her favorite construction outfit.  It was the annual Halloween party at their high school and they come dressed as the Village People with a few other friends. 

    “Thanks Bette, we’ll call you when it’s over.” Shane replied, saluting Bette with a quick flick of her hand and pulled Candace toward the main entrance.

    Shane and Candace recently come to cross by chance and become best of friends with Candace attending the same High School across town just to be with Shane.  They were both children of the system with Shane a veteran at the tender age of 10.  She was bounced around different foster homes for a few years before getting a stable residence at the halfway house with just another year shied of her 18 birthday.  

    At 12, Candace entered the NY foster system rescued from the abusive hands of her father, a recurring drug addict on a forgotten street of New York, just to be toss around different foster homes.  Like many children her age, adoption was close to impossible.  The systems failed her and many others.  All her hope rested on an unfamiliar name her mother whispered in her last remorseful breath; an old picture placed in Candace’s tiny hand, a head shot of a young woman that resemble her mom, and stamped with Hollywood, CA. in gold foil.

     At 15, she runaway from the foster home and hitchhiked across Stateline to search for that unknown sister; unfortunate or fortunate for her, the California State Trooper spotted and picked her up on a lone stretch of 101 freeways.  She was now in the custody of California DCFS and Ms. Roberta Grey, the social worker assigned to her case. 

    It has taken Roberta months to work through the red tapes and got Candace’s case transferred from New York.  Meanwhile, she placed Candace temporarily at the halfway house while she tried to find out if this long lost sister is willing to take in this unknown troubled teenager.  The street-wised Candace and the self-assured Shane immediately formed an attuned friendship with familiar tie at first meeting.

    2. Thanks for the back story on Candace and for the kiss (durrrrrrr lol). Now I have to wonder what Leigh has to do with Tina. Things that make you go hmmm…

    6. Now, now Lament, I personally have nonething against you giving or getting a kiss from Curioust. Just as long as she has time to write and post her story. LOL Back to the stoy, I hope that Tina is going to call Bette. Communication ladies, communication :o)

    7. Oh goodie, Tina is going to step out again and reach for Bette. Happy that Candace is related to Bette and not after her. Too bad that show did not go with this angle since it was known that her father was one to step out on his wives. Shane and Candace make a cute couple. It will be nice to see how Bette takes to Tina contacting her. Loved how you explained their first meeting (Bette and Candace) and first contact of skin (Bette and Tina).

    8. Okay, am arrived only now to read chapter 5 and 6. So light slowly comes into the darkness. So Candace is Bette’s half-sister. We only need the solution for Bette’s accident now. And still it apparently is damaged by it physically. Do I see this right or why does everybody have such worries about Bette’s state of health? It becomes slowly time, this Bette and Tina meet and begin to close the gaps of their past. And I hope they will build up a future together.

    10. It is nice to know that Candace and Bette are sister’s. Please let Tina and Bette hook up real soon. Maybe just to talk . What up with Leigh? Thank you Great Chapter. PPS
