    Surprise Surprise

    Chapter 5

                “Baby Sis, I see they’ve all left.” Kit says coming up behind Bette. Bette turns to smile at her older sister.

                “Yes. Kit I need your help.”

                “Anything you need as long as it keeps you here.”

                “I’m happy to hear you say that.”

                “Well out with it.”

                “Just come over to my house tonight.” Just as she speaks she feels the familiar vibrations of her cell phone, she opens it up and reads a text message from Alice confirming tonight. She smiles up at Kit, “The rest of the girls will be there.”

                “Okay… you have something up your sleeve don’t you?” Kit asks.

                “Always do don’t I?” Bette rises from her seat and gives Kit a wink. “I’m going to head home now. Sorry to just run. I love you and I’ll see you tonight.”

                “Okay girl I’ll see you after I close up here.” With that Bette makes her way to her car. She slides into the passenger seat and heads home.

                She pulls into the driveway and turns the car off staring at the house she once shared with Tina a smile spreads across her face. ‘Step one: show her you support her.’ Bette thinks to herself as she makes her way up the steps to unlock the door, opening it she takes an inhale and imagines the sounds of Tina’s laughter and cooing of a baby. ‘Yes this would be the only way for me to feel whole.’  She thinks as she heads to the bedroom. She had not been home for nearly a week, she missed her home. She begins to shed her days clothes to step into the shower.

                Meanwhile Tina sits in her office unable to regain focus. Bette had been so honest and she had not. She could not find the words to respond to Bette’s confessions and now she is feeling racked with guilt for not having taken any responsibility. For pulling away, for being part of the reason that Bette found her way into the arms of another. The tears freely escape her eyes. She stares out into the void. She looks down at her phone. ‘I can’t call her,’ Tina thinks to herself. She struggles for a few minutes.

    2. It’s ok Tina, enjoy the shower, I’m sure Bette is willing to let you stay as long as you want. I think the bracelet will really get her emotions going too! PPS

    3. Hope Tina stays for this and enjoys herself. they can still talk when everyone leaves if Tina is not too tired after the shower. If she will just meet Bette halfway they can work this out and be a family again. Thanks for posting. PPS

    5. I hope Tina enjoys the baby shower, inspite of the fact that Bette kinda jumped the gun a little I think. Please post soon, can’t wait to see how this all works out.
