    A Slow Dance – Chapter 6

On the third ring, Eric picked up the line. "Hello, Eric Stoltz speaking."

Tina replied, "Hey, Eric, it’s Tina. You called me about the McClennon case."

"Yeah. Paramount actually wants to buy his contract. I know this isn’t your area of expertise, but I’ve tried getting in touch with Mack and Susan, and neither of them have been in their office when I’ve tried. I figured since you saw them every day you could let them know so they could get in touch with me."

Tina nodded. "Absolutely. I’ll actually do that this afternoon. I’m meeting Susan for lunch at two."

    "Alright, thanks."

A pregnant pause formed a void in the conversation. Both wanted to speak, but neither knew what to say. Finally, Tina broke the silence.

"Have lunch with me tomorrow, Eric. There are still things to be said between both of us. If we don’t resolve it, neither of us will have the closure we need. And even if you don’t have anything to say to me, I need to speak with you."

Eric thought for a moment before saying, "Alright, Tina. Where do you want to meet?"

She mulled over the different places they could go for lunch. "How about Maxine’s? They have a good lunch, and it’s close to both of us."

"Sounds good. I’ll see you around one, then, yes?"

"That’s fine. I’ll see you then." Tina placed the phone back down on the receiver and let out a sigh. Well, at least the next step was done. Now for the easy part. Tina got back to work, wishing for the day to go quickly so she could pacify Eric and completely move on with her life.

Tina woke up the next morning and got ready for work. She rifled through her closet and found a dark brown skirt and a white cotton blouse. She slipped on her clothes and fixed her hair, and walked out of her apartment with a determination to make her life less complicated.

At precisely one o’clock, Tina walked into Maxine’s. She heard Eric come through the door right behind her, and smiled to herself. If there was one thing she admired about Eric, it was his prompt manner. He was hardly ever late, and he often lectured Tina about her time management.

    1. My favorite line is this particular chapter…

“If I stay with Bette, then I stay with Bette, and if I don’t then I don’t. Whether I’m gay or straight shouldn’t matter here. It’s what I feel that does matter. And I don’t feel anything for anyone but Bette at the moment.”

      Go TINA Go!!!

    2. You can NOT be nineteen! But, hey, if you are, “Hey, Nineteen.” (That was a really cool song released a few years before you were born by Steely Dan…about an over thirty dude who meets a 19-year-old and has nothing in common with her but attraction.) But I digress.

Get ready for a semi-mega comment. If I can stop laughing. I’ve been laughing for at least 45 minutes since I tuned into your Author’s Notes. You are so f++king funny!!!

You have way too much talent…If I was an agent I’d be snapping you up and making my 15% off you pronto. Watch out for the vultures in your future.

Am I the only one who thinks Eric wanting to eat a fish dish is funny? And he orders Tina chicken? Braaack, braaack, braack, braack!!! She really is a (I hate the word lesbian) gay lady. In transition, my ass!

I am so, so , so pleased you appreciated my free association last time. Thanks for sharing the same page with me. It gets lonely sometimes.

And you’re right…no offense taken…I actually love being over thirty. Just wanted to kinda play with you a bit. Never expected an apology. If you’d given one, then I’d been offended. So there!! Backatcha!

I just really love this story and the way you write it! So, when you gonna get Bette and Tina “entangled?”

I’m really enjoying this…except for typing in this little box! Get on with your bad self!!

    3. “I’m in transition”. Well it will be over soon and you’ll be Bette’s. Finally Eric as a decent guy. Nice update, no major drama, just life moving forward. NOw off to Bette.
