A Part of Me
Chapter 1
Allison and Steve Kennard walked into the Children’s Center of West Hollywood, Allison’s College roommate and good friend Katherine Porter ran the center and invited her to come visit her kids.
Allison and Steve were college sweethearts they had married after graduation he was a successful lawyer working for a small firm in Los Angeles and Allison was an Elementary School teacher. They owned a very nice modest home in the Los Feliz area of L.A. They had been married now for 5 years and had an 18month old son named Matthew, they both loved children and had hoped to have a big family.
When they found out they were pregnant it was the happiest day of their life for them, but 6 months into the pregnancy Allison almost suffered a miscarriage she was ordered to bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy.
During child birth Allison suffered complications and though Matthew was born healthy the Doctors later gave Allison and Steve the terrible news, that she would not be able to have any more children. They were heartbroken but thankful for their beautiful son.
Allison and Steve knew they wanted more children so they researched all their options from finding a surrogate mother to adoption. After much thought and deliberation they decided adoption was the best option for them. Matthew was soon turning 2 and they decided to go ahead and start the adoption process.
Katherine who everyone called Kit for short had invited Allison and Steve to visit the center she helped run. The Center was small in caparison to some others, it housed about 40 children all between the ages of 4 thru 12 she didn’t like to call the center an orphanage to Kit it ran more like a boarding school where the kids had a structured schedule and attended school, they were also involved in playing sports and arts and crafts.
“Hey Alley, Steve I’m so glad you guys decided to come” Kit said as she hugged her friends
“Kit thanks for inviting us, were really excited to take a look around” Allison smiled
