    Alice and Dana – make or break?

    Chapter 4:

     

    Previously…

    Dana pleaded “Don’t do this Al, don’t you dare run off on me again!”

     

    Alice looked back, the tears running freely down her face before she apologised again and walked out the door.

     

    Dana fell back onto the sofa and put her head in her hands. “Fuck” she said aloud, with desperation.

    The following morning

     

    Dana awoke the next morning with her head still reeling from the night before. She had fallen asleep on her sofa, in her clothes and was in desperate need of a cool shower to try to sort out her head and fight off the monstrous hangover that was threatening to attack at any moment.

     

    Despite a long soak in the shower, the athlete still couldn’t shake the feelings of confusion that were clouding her mind. She grabbed her running gear, knowing that putting a few kilometres of distance between herself and Al would help to sort things out; in her head at least.

     

    As Dana broke into her pace, she took her usual route through the quieter streets of the area, past The Planet and on towards the gym, unaware that Alice was sat alone outside the coffee house enjoying the solitude to reflect on the recent events.

     

    Going against her best intentions, Dana couldn’t help but glance across the street to the kerb-side tables, where she spotted the writer. Alice felt a tingling sensation on the back of her neck and looked up as Dana ran past. The two women made eye contact, Alice lifted her hand to wave, but Dana looked away coldly, shaking her head and picking up speed as she sprinted off down the street. Alice’s face fell, she finished her coffee and gathered her belongings, Tina was visiting her parents for a couple of days so Alice had her apartment to herself again, she was intending to do some work, but it was too late; now that she’d seen Dana she knew that her head would be plagued by thoughts of the athlete for the rest of the day.

     

    ‘I can’t do this anymore, I can’t keep up this pretence and fight my feelings, it’s pushing Dana away and it’s tearing me apart’ Alice thought to herself. As she closed the door to her apartment, she leaned back against the wall and slid to the ground, burying her head in her hands and softly sobbing.

    1. This story is getting and better. Aww, they were so adorable together at the beach…untill they had that fight. :)Ok, Dana took one step with being honest to herself. Now she ‘only’ has to tell the truth to Tonya and then Alice. Not something Dana is very good at. ;) I wonder how she will handle herself. I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

    5. TONYA! always ruining everything. Great update, first alice runs, then dana…what is up with these two. I know tonya’s gonna keep Dana from sorting out any kind of plan, great. More angst. I can’t wait for the next update, to see what happens with Ton Ton..the monster! Ha! Fabulous!!

    6. I guess it’s Tonya or Mrs. Fairbanks, but I can’t believe that Alice actually left Dana on the beach. I thought she would have come back. Did Alice also call Shane for Dana?
