She dials the number.
“Mr. Davies’ office, how may I help you?” the woman says.
“Hi, this is Bette Porter, is Mr. Davies in?” Bette asks.
“No, he just left for the day. He’ll be back tomorrow.” The woman says.
“Oh, do you have a cell phone number for him?” Bette asks.
“I’m not allowed to give that out.” The woman says.
“Look, I’m calling about Tina Kennard, you’re photographer. She’s been in an accident. I need to talk to him. Could you please give me the number?” Bette asks.
“Oh, is she okay?” the woman asks concerned.
“She’s alive and awake, but she’s paralyzed.” Bette says starting to break again.
“Oh my. I’ll give you his number.” The woman says. She reads up the number and Bette writes it down.
“Thank you.” Bette says.
“Tell Tina that she’s in my prayers.” The woman says.
“I will. Thank you.” Bette replies and hangs up.
She takes a deep breath and dials Cameron’s number.
“Hello?” He replies.
“Cameron? This is Bette Porter.” Bette says.
“Ms. Porter. This is a surprise. I take it that you’re calling on behalf on Tina? She missed and important meeting today.” He says a little annoyed.
“Yes, I know, she told me. The reason why she didn’t show up is She’s been in a car accident. She got out of surgery 2 hours ago.” Bette says.
“Oh my God, Is she all right?” He asks suddenly rally concerned.
She’s alive and awake, but not good. She’s paralyzed from waist down. They don’t know if it’s permanent yet.” Bette says.
“Oh my God.” He says again.
“Look I have to get back to her, she just found out she’s paralyzed, I don’t want her to be alone right now.” Bette says.
“Yes off course, which hospital is it?” Cameron asks.
“It’s LA Medical.” Bette says.
They say goodbye and hangs up.
Bette walks back into the waiting room.
“I have to go back to her.” Bette says softly.
“Yes, we figured. We’ll come back tomorrow morning. Go and take care of her.”
“Yeah, tell her we’re thinking about her.” Shane adds.
“I will.” Bette replies. Alice and Shane start to walk out. Dana pulls Bette into a tight hug.
“Are you okay?” She asks.
“I will be. Right now I’m so mad at myself.” Bette says softly.
“Mad at yourself? Why?” Dana asks.
“The reason we fought was because I never told her I was biracial, it simply just slipped my mind. And when I was about to introduce her to Kit, she kind of got a little freaked. And I was hurt because it sounded like she didn’t want to be with a black woman, so I told her to leave, that I needed time.” Bette says and starts to cry again.
“It’s my fault that she’s in there now, and I’m not sure how to handle it.” Bette says.
“It’s going to be okay. Your love is so strong, believe in that. Show her that you love her and that you’re there for her.” Dana says, rubbing her back.
“Yeah.” Bette says. She lets go of Dana. “I have to get back in. We’ll you come by tomorrow?” Bette asks.
“Off course. I’ll come by at
“Thanks.” Bette says and they say goodbye. Bette walks back in with Tina.
Bette sees that Tina is still crying. Bette rushes over to her.
“I can’t feel my legs.” Tina says realizing it.
“I know baby, I know, but you’ll be okay, we’ll get through this, we’ll get through it.” Bette says trying her best to comfort Tina.
“What if it’s permanent?” Tina asks looking at Bette.
“Then we have to by a house with ramps and elevators.” Bette says, taking Tina’s hands in hers. “I love you, and will never leave you.” Bette says, giving Tina a little smile.
“I love you too.” Tina replies. Bette leans down and kisses her softly on the lips.

Wonderful update Lauren but very sad indeed….Tina will pull through I can feel it and Bette will be there to support her no matte what…do post soon
Wow, talk about drama. How does Bette forget to tell her something like that?? It’s such a huge part of who she is.

I believe all the Mothers on the site will tell you the same thing Studt first Lets see so A’s and some B’s then you can make us happy by writing for us, It will be awhile but Bette and Tina will make it. Thanks for writing.

i am so sad for Tina and i knew it Bette got out the room to cry but now she must to stay strong for both of them and Tina will need her love and suport more than ever that means no golf for a while but i have the same wish of snQQpy that Tina will walk by next chapter right??
Ok, I just caught up. In the beginning, I was really upset with Tina’s reaction, but I guess we all have things that we don’t tell each other. Than again, how could she not notice? Don’t know why this would be such a big issue; you love the person. Anyway, glad that Tina is alive, you had me worried there for a second. I truly hope that she recovers fully. Are there things that Tina hasn’t told Bette??

This was sad, but I hope that Tina will recover to full strenght. Maybe this is good for these two to realize that they cannot be seperated no matter what and that they will share everything with each other. Great chapter although a little sad. Kiitos!
Heartbreaking, but glad they aren’t too proud to make things harder on each other. Glad that they are talking and supporting one another through their hurt. I’m hoping that Tina’s paralysis is only temporary. I really like this Dana. She’s not so goofy, and very supportive of her friend.

you know when dificult times shows up is when we truly know who loves us and care about us..and for Tina this is a prove that Bette really loves her and care about her..love beyond words and hard times..Bette need to stop blame herself.. when things are write to happen noone could stop is destiny..i still have faith on you Lauren and know Tina will be able to walk again and realize all the plains Bette and her have made..ok amazing but sad chapter please post as soon as you can i know you need time to school..lol..

Sometimes their prides get in the way. Thanks again for the chapter Lauren…I really don’t mind short chapters, because I really do love your story.
