    Bette and Kit talk. “This is LA Medical, I’m looking for Bette Porter?”

    Chapter 56

     

    Bette stops, but doesn’t turn. Kit is still to far away to hear them.

    Tina walks slowly towards Bette.

    “I” Tina starts. Bette turns, tears running down her cheek. This breaks Tina’s heart.

    “What Tina?” Bette asks a little angry as she wipes away the tears.

    “Why didn’t you tell me?” Tina asks, looking straight into Bette’s eyes.

    “I didn’t think it would be a problem for you. You kept saying that you fell in love with the person. Now I start to think about it, that was maybe a lie?” Bette says, still wiping her tears.

    “I don’t understand how you would keep this a secret from me.” Tina says.

    “I didn’t keep it from you, it just never came up, and I haven’t spoken to Kit in over a year, before we met. I have had other things on my mind this last year.” Bette says as her voice starts to break a little.

    Tina sees the sadness in Bette’s eyes.

    “I’m sorry.” Tina says softly.

    “Sorry? Am I supposed to forget what happened here?” Bette asks a little harsh. “Tina, please just leave. I need time to think.” Bette says, she turns and walks over to Kit. Tina is left standing there, she starts to cry. ‘What did I just do?’ she thinks to herself. She put her hands on her face and starts to cry harder. Just before entering the club, Bette turns and looks back on Tina. She sees her bending over crying.

    “Baby sis, what happened out there?” Kit asks as she sees that the conversation was a little cold and heated

    “That was Tina.” Bette says silently.

    “Yeah, I figured, will she be joining us later?” Kit asks.

    “No, she will not.” Bette says harshly.

    “What happened?” Kit asks.

    “I don’t want to talk about it Kit, so just drop it.” Bette says.

    “No, I’m not dropping it. I saw her crying.” Kit says. “So come on, spill it.” Kit adds.

    “She freaked out when she saw you and I told her that I’m half black, that we share a father.” Bette says as she sits down by a table in the restaurant.

    “Oh, but why would she freak out now? You’ve been together almost a year.” Kit asks.

    6. Lauren…what an amazing chapter. Tina really shouldn’t have been driving not in that state. She should have stayed at the club until she calmed down a bit. Then again, I understand her need to just get away…she felt betrayed by Bette. But she & Bette have been through so much and Bette has stood by her all the way… Lauren…such drama, it great. Cannot wait for the next chapter. Thank you for the story.

    10. damage to spine,fractured ribs with lung punctured and internal bleeding! wow..from all the med books i have with me..such injury is a mess! pls…let her get thru this. i hope no paralysis..no residual effects. NO..not to Tina! post soon!
