    Author Notes:

    They get the results back, but more results are needed.

    “Off course.” Bette says and gives her a smile.

    “We should get going Tina.” The nurse says.

    “Yes, off course.” Tina says as another nurse comes in.

    Bette leans down and kisses Tina softly. She pulls back a little and strokes her hand over Tina’s chin.

    “I love you.” Bette whispers.

    “I love you too.” Tina whispers back.

    The nurses smile to each other as they grab the bed and rolls Tina out of the room.

    Bette waves bye to Tina with tears again slipping through. She wipes them away and leaves the hospital. She drives towards the apartment in her rental car.

    On her way she calls her mother, she hopes that she is up this early, and knowing her mother, she’s probably at work already.

    “Porter Valley Country Club, how may I help you?” Maxine says.

    “Mom, it’s me.” Bette replies.

    “Oh, Bette hi, how are you? How’s work?” Maxine asks.

    “Mom, Tina is in the hospital, we lost the baby.” Bette says on the verge of crying again.

    “Oh God, Bette, I’m so sorry.” Maxine says.

    “Yeah, They found something else mom. They found a tumour in one of her ovaries. She’s in and doing a biopsy now.” Bette says. She starts to cry again and she has to stop the car because the tears are covering her eyes. Maxine hears that Bette is crying

    “Bette? She’s going to be okay, you hear me?” Maxine says.

    “Yeah, I hear you, but how much more are we going to survive mom?” Bette asks.

    “Bette, you will survive everything. You have a great love. Nothing will come between you.” Maxine says. “Tina will be okay. I’m sure of it.” She adds.

    “I know, but” Bette says.

    “No buts Bette. Get all of those thoughts out of your head.” Maxine says. “That is not helping Tina.” She adds.

    “I know mom. I know. It’s just so heartbreaking. First the news about the baby, and then three minutes later they tell us that Tina might have cancer. We just started our life together, I can’t loose her mom, I can’t.” She says as she cries harder.

    “Elizabeth, listen to me, she’s not going to die, she’s going to be fine. Get that into your head, she’s going to be fine. You have to believe that, because if you don’t, Tina will know, and that will give her a reason to not fight. You hear me?” Maxine says.

    There is silence on the other end. Maxine hear Bette’s sobbing.

    “Bette?” she says softly.

    “Yeah, I’m here. I believe mom, I have to. She’s my life.” Bette replies.

    “Good.” Maxine says.

    “Thanks mom.” Bette says.

    “Go and be with her.” Maxine says.

    “I will.” Bette replies.

    “Love you. Call if there’s any news or if you need anything.” Maxine says before she hangs up.

    3. i never saw someone cry more than Tina…GEEZZZ give the woman a break..lol..i know Tina will be fine but that “chapter” of her life will be never forgoten, she will be ok but she will never be 100% sure to have a baby again the psychological damage was done BUT she have Bette by her side then everything is possible..your mean Lauren very mean to my poor heart :o(

    14. Lauren..great chapter. A VERY sad chapter. Good to see that B & T and family are there for one another. Maxine was right…Bette has to believe everything is going to be okay…otherwise, Tina will sense it and want to give up. Thanks for the teary drama…Lauren. ;-)
