You Take My Breath Away – (Chapter: Breakaway)

    At The Carlin’s

Looking at her wardrobe with a blank expression, Spencer stands there looking for the perfect outfit to wear today to get Ashley’s attention without showing to much skin. Being so engroused in her dilemma she didn’t hear her dad knock and walk into the room, looking at his daughter’s face Arthur can’t help but chuckle. This bring’s Spencer out of her thought’s and back to reality, “oh hey dad I didn’t hear you come in” she say’s smiling at her dad.
“having wardrobe problem’s are we? I’d offer my help but it would be useless, this is your mother’s area not mine.” He says laughing, “I brought you up some pancakes, you didn’t hear me call so I thought I better bring some up before your brothers eat them all.” Smiling at her father and taking the plate of pancakes from him. Her smile begins to fade, this doesn’t go unnoticed by arthur, he puts his arm round his young daughter asking with love and concern “Spencer, what’s wrong?” she hear’s the concern in her father’s voice and feels bad cause she afraid to tell him the truth, ok he’s a social worker and deal’s with this stuff all the time but what if he treat’s this differantly.
Arthur can see the struggle that Spencer’s having with herself, he see’s it everytime his little girl get’s close to really opening up to him, he never presses the matter because it’s upto Spencer to tell him in her own time.
“Spencer, you don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t want to, but I want you to know. No matter what it is, your my little girl and I love you, nothing and I mean Nothing will ever change that I promise you. Your my little girl and I Love you, so when your ready and you want to talk to me, I’m here.” He says Lovingly to his daughter, hoping to make her more relaxed about this.
Spencer can’t help the tears that flow from her eye’s after hearing her dad say all this to her, she wraps her arms around her dad and just hugs him “i’m sorry dad, please don’t hate me.” Pulling his daughter closer to him “sweetie i could never hate you, If you think being gay would make me hate you…your so wrong.” Spencer stiffens in shock but soon relxes, she pulls back from her dad to look at him, he’s smiling at her. “I was gonna wait for your to tell me, but I hate to see you cry. Spencer you are perfect the way you are, gay straight none of those lables matter. Your my daughter and aslong as your happy, that’s all that matters to me. Your mother will feel the same as I do, if your not ready to tell her I will but it’s all your decision sweetie, but i’ll be there if you need me.” A wave of calmness just washes over her, a weight has been lifted. Her dad surprises her everyday with her understanding and loving he is, she’s glad she didn’t have to struggle to find the words to tell her dad. “thank you dad. You don’t know how much this means to me, thank you.” He doesn’t have to say anything, he just leans over and places a kiss on the top of his daughters head and gets up. “ I’ll leav you to get ready for school, but spencer….I love you sweet heart, always know that.” He leaves her to get ready, a calmer relaxed Spencer starts to picking her outfit out for the day ahead.
After getting ready she and her brothers head off to another day at king high, another day to see Ashley.
