When Night Falls – (Chapter: Chapter 3: The dead of things)
I said and Kyla stood from her bed as well.
Kyla: yeah well what else are they suppose to do Ash? They cant change the course of events that might take place. All they can really do is watch and hope that things get better. They try not to live in fear in case things do turn out for the worst. That way at least they got to live something of a life.
She finished and made all the sense. I sighed once again.
Ashley: Alright, well Ill let you finish packing and Ill talk to you later.
She caught me off guard when she pulled me into a tight hug. I returned it. She then let me go and I made my way out of her room.
I ventured out into the evening, on my way to the synagogue. As I made my way through town I realized that people were yet to worry. OF course they had heard of the Fascists, but it seemed like it was all in the abstract to them. Like it meant nothing more to them than a change of ministry. I knew it was a little bit more than that. It was a step towards Hitler ultimately getting what he had dreamed of. Getting rid of the Jewish people thats what, and everyone tried to be oblivious to it as possible.Thinking that if they didnt worry about it that it would, in turn, go away. But that wasnt looking at the reality of the situation. Kyla says I worry too much but the individuals in this town didnt worry enough.
On my way to the synogogue I ran into Madison. She lived in my community and was really fun to spend time with.
Madison: Hey Ashley, What are you up to?
Ashley: Just going to the Synogogue, what about you?
I asked her and she held up a piece of paper.
Madison: Picking up a few things from the market for my mother and father. Since my sister moved out and got married it seems like I have to do everything around the house.
She said laughing and I laughed as well.
Ashley: I know what you mean. My sister is packing to move out and Im pretty sure that after shes gone Ill be doing all of the chores around the house.
