CHAPTER ELEVEN

ASHLEY’S POV:

The last couple of hours I have been up in my room listening to the stereo at full blast. Whenever I’m down music always helps me feel better.  Especially, when I listen to one of my dad’s records. He is the lead singer of a really famous band called Purple Venom. I get along with him much better than my mom. Unfortunately, he is always in the studio and when he is not in the studio he is on tour.  It’s hard for him to find time to come see me, but when he does we always have a blast.

Kyla: (banging on Ashley’s door and yelling to get Ashley’s attention.) Ashley, turn the music down! Ashley! Ashley, open the door!

I can hear Kyla banging on my door asking me to turn my music down, and I try my best to ignore her. Even when the stereo is on full blast I can still hear her big mouth over the music. I finally decide to turn the music down and deal with Kyla.

Ashley: (turns the music down and opens the door in a very bad mood.) What do you want Kyla?!

If you don’t know already Kyla is my half sister. We have the same father, not the same mother. God help us all if my mother ever decides to reproduce again. Anyway, I just found out about Kyla a year ago. From day one I haven’t liked her one bit. Even though she is 16 she is like an annoying 8 year old little sister…times ten. I literally can not stand her, and I am pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

Kyla: (very annoyed) Would you mind keeping the music down? I am trying to study.

Ashley: Well considering this hosue has about 15 other rooms, I’m sure you can find one room that you can’t hear my music in.

Kyla: (sarcastically) Well you see I tried that but since you have the stereo turned up all the way it tends to vibrate through the whole house.

Ashley: Then I suggest you go buy yourself some earplugs and leave me the hell alone.

Kyla: What is your problem?! Is it completely impossible for you to think of someone other than yourself?!

Ashley: You know what, fine! (Ashley puts on her jacket and grabs her keys.) You want the house to yourself, I’m out of here. And next time you see me, don’t talk to me!

Ashley hurriedly runs down the stairs and storms out of the house.  About 20 minutes later Ashley pulls into a parking lot next to the beach. She gets out of her car and starts walking toward the pier. She goes under the pier and sits down on an old log.

Ashley’s thoughts: Finally I can get some peace and quiet. This day just keeps getting worse and worse. I am so angry right now I don’t know what to do with myself. First my mom tells me she wants nothing to do with me and then Kyla acts like the wicked witch of the west.  I tried getting a hold of my dad while I was driving here, but his publicist said he was in the middle of a press conference. Typical. I really need to talk to him right now.

I’m not suprised though. This is just how my life goes. Every time I think I might get a connection with someone they always turn their back on me. Always. I am so sick of it and I can’t stand it anymore. This is why I can’t let Spencer get close to me. I have to stop these feelings I have for her. It will only lead me to more heartache. I have to hurt her before she has a chance to hurt me.
