The Princess and The Puppet – (Chapter: Wedding Bells?)

    CHAPTER TWELVE

    SPENCER’S POV:

I can see her beautiful face as I am walking down towards her. Arm and arm with my dad this is what I have been waiting for my whole life. I am about to be face to face with the love of my life and take her hand in marriage.

Preacher: Spencer Carlin, do you take Ashley Davies to be your lawfully wedded wife?

    Spencer: I-

    Paula: Spencer, wake up!

Okay that’s weird why do I hear my mom telling me to wake up when I am trying to say “I do”.

Paula: Spencer Carlin, get up. You are going to be late for school.

    Shit.

I open my eyes and realize it was all a dream. Why couldn’t my mom wait two more minutes before waking me up. I mean, come on, at least let me eat some of my own wedding cake. I hope it was chocolate.

I roll out of bed and go to the bathroom to brush my hair. I wonder what I should wear today. Normally I would probably just throw on some jeans and an American Eagle t-shirt, but I want to dress nice for Ashley. I browse through my wardrobe and decide to wear a cute skirt to show off my legs. I finish getting ready and then run downstairs to grab something to eat. I go into the kitchen and see my mom preparing her lunch.

    Spencer: Hey Mom.

Paula looks up from her sandwich and sees what Spencer is wearing.

Paula: Spencer don’t you think that skirt is a little short?

Spencer: No, I think it’s fine. Besides I wore it all the time in Ohio. You never said anything then.

Paula: Well, we are in L.A. now, and you have to be more careful with how you carry yourself. There are some dangerous people out there who would love to get their hands on a pretty girl like you.

Spencer’s thoughts: Well, if I’m lucky this skirt will get Ashley’s hands on me.

Glenn: Spencer come on. Clay and I are ready to go.

Spencer: No time to change. I have to get to school. Bye Mom.

Spencer quickly leaves the kitchen and meets her brothers outside in the car.

We arrive at school about 10 minutes later. I can’t wait to see Ashley. I go to my locker and grab my books for the day and then head to English class. When I walk in I notice that Ashley hasn’t made it to class yet, but I see Chelsea already sitting in the back. I go over to my desk and take my seat.

    Spencer: Hey Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hey Spencer. Wow, you look nice today. What’s the occasion?

Spencer: No occasion. I am just trying to get used to this California heat.

Chelsea: (starts to giggle) That is the lamest excuse I have ever heard. Come on tell me the real reason. Do you already have a crush on someone?

    Spencer shyly looks down.

Chelsea: (smiles and gets excited) You do, don’t you? You have to tell me who.

Chelsea was hanging on the edge of her seat waiting for Spencer to reveal her mystery girl.

I was about to tell Chelsea when I saw Ashley walk into the room with a couple of her friends. She looked so stunning. I looked up and smiled and she smiled back.

Chelsea sees the interaction between the two and is completely shocked.

    Chelsea: (to herself) Oh no.
