The King High Killer – (Chapter: Chapter 10, Ten Little Indians)

Suddenly weary, the protégé dropped the sword and winced at the clatter it made against the wood of the steps. Blood dripped rhythmically off the point and the protégé covered their ears at the sound.

This better be worth it. The protégé thought with revulsion. This better all be worth it. Suddenly sick with grief, the protégé gagged and jumped from the steps over to a bush at the far end of the backyard. Violently retching into the plants, the protégé’s thoughts traveled back to the phone call that transpired a year ago that set this whole thing in motion.

The protégé sank down into the muddy grass and pulled out a cell phone. It wasn’t even midnight yet and there was long to wait. Peering over the bushes the protégé had just gotten sick in, the Killer’s helper looked for signs of life in the house across the way. The two girls were still not back from their trip. And this needed to be handled tonight or else everything the protégé had worked for would be for naught.

The protégé sighed deeply and waited, turning the cell phone over and over between hands. Back-up was on its way and the protégé really wished it wasn’t needed. But when you have more than one target you need more than one killer. And this wasn’t going to be an easy kill.

Every day the protégé regretted receiving that call. And with each new death, regret weighed heavier and heavier. That anonymous phone call from the distorted voice with promises that gave the protégé hope.

It better all be worth it.

Carmen’s face was scrunched up in pain as she sat atop the hospital bed. Beside her, Lily held the Latina’s unbroken hard with a mix of concern and anger. A doctor would be in momentarily to fit Carmen with a cast, so Ashley wasted no time.

“You get anything else like this? Huh? Pumpkin full of maggots? Creepy threats written in faux blood? Flat tires? Defaced pictures of your dead father?!” The brunette asked, voice getting higher in pitch and accusation as she paced in front of the bed, the picture of the Latina in her hand.

“My father’s not dead.” Carmen answered through a sharp intake of breath. “I think I need more pain meds.” She whined. Lily jumped up to go get a nurse to help her girlfriend, but Spencer stopped her before she could disappear behind the curtain of the room’s makeshift wall.

    1. dun dun dun! another fantatic chap stix! I was hoping ash and spence would’ve used their closet time to really express what they feel for each other but hey it worked out anyway, at least they didn’t really get mad at each other in this chap. I loved the way spence was so concerned when ash told her about almost being hit by the car, that was so great. and are you serious? you’re almost done with this?? =( ahh well it’s definitely worth all the suspense and angst! excellent job, can’t wait to find out what they just found out in the files aobut their parents. pms please!!

    2. mmmm. thts all i can say. amazing. theres so much stuff going hand in hand. i personally think the killer is christine and the protege is paula. guess i’ll have to find out. and u being a naughty girl ;) shame shame. lol PMS!!

    3. That was an awesome update. I want to know what happened to their parents that would cause a reaction like that. Its just wow. I bet they will figure out who the killers are. I missed this story I am glad you updated. Spence is so going to come out to Ash because you just can’t leave feelings like that hidden forever. Well her mouth may not speak them but her hands are eager to show. Haha. Well I hope everything is going good with you and I hope you post soon. -jess

    4. brat!! if paula and raife didn’t die in a car accident i’m going to be very upset and i’m also still convinced that paula and raife are the killers. and i haven’t ruled out arthur yet…hmmm…oh and whatever happened to the girl that was trapped and restrained by the killer a few chapters back…perhaps that’s christine and that’s how they got into ashley’s house…oh yes, my wheels are spinning and you can’t convince me otherwise. ughhh i don’t know what to make of everything, i need to re-read the story in it’s entirety and take notes. but it was a splendid update that i thoroughly enjoyed reading and i think that you should write the rest of it right now. ha, isn’t it great that i have my username back? i bet you just missed all of my demands and unreal expectations. i sure missed emmmm :-)
