    “You win. Isn’t this what you wanted?”

    I turned the set lights off, flipping on the room’s dimmers as we started to head downstairs.  We had painted the rest of the house, but really only completely finished one other room – the front living room.  It was our formal room, outfitted with the antique furniture I had inherited from my grandmother.  It was purely for show and although we were only 25, it still kind of fit us, although maybe not the rest of the house which we planned to decorate with the Ikea catalogue.

    I had begged Ashley for a housewarming party, mainly as a reason to fly my family to Colorado.  We hadn’t been back to California since Christmas and because I had used all of my vacation time from school to remodel, I hadn’t invited my family out to see our new house.  Fortunately, Ashley was uber-proud of the studio, and the living room, and had agreed.  Kyla was home for a long weekend from summer classes and we had used the film as a guise for the proposal.  Everyone who was coming tonight knew; Ashley was clueless.

    Kyla bounded down the attic steps in front of me, landing with a jump into the second floor hallway.  She spun around and grabbed me in a hug.  “I can’t believe in a few hours, you’re going to officially be my sister.”  I hugged her back.  I couldn’t believe in a few hours I was going to be engaged.

    Kyla let me go and skittered off to her bedroom.  The second floor had three official bedrooms, a master bathroom, and my office.  The landing overlooked the living room and I could hear our company downstairs.  I glanced at myself in the hall mirror, pulled my ponytail tighter, smoothed out my shirt.  I was halfway down the long curving staircase when Ashley bounded up the first few steps.

    “Hey gorgeous.  I was just coming to get you.  Well, and to see if Glen was hiding out up there.  Aiden wants his money.”  I met her at the bottom and she greeted me with a kiss.

    “He’s not up there, just Kyla.  She’s changing, I think.”  At that moment, Glen tiptoed from around the corner, waving excitedly, then putting a finger to his lips for me to be quiet.  I hadn’t seen him in six months, wanted to tackle him in a hug, but my sisterly instinct to protect him overruled.  Instead, I leaned in and kissed Ashley again, taking her mind off the hunt.

    1. Yes! Definitely continue! And it’s gotta be a happy ending, right? Because I think a bit of Spashley fluff is kind of needed right now. But great job on the writing. Wouldn’t it be perfect if everyone could just get along like that? Haha…I guess only in the fanfic world.
