    Ashton, Alexis and A.J. – 17 years old

    Hi guys. The last few months have been very interesting. You guys have been dating for a long while and your Mom and I have adjusted pretty well. Okay, I lied. I’ve adjusted to it and your Mom tolerates it. Barely. Look at it this way, at least she’s stopped chasing you guys dates around trying to kill them. Most of the time. Anyways, let me tell you about what‘s been happening.

    I was curled up in the couch with a blanket and Bobby’s head on my lap watching a movie one night. Your Mom had already gone to bed but I wasn’t very sleepy so I decided to watch a movie. Half way through it Ashton came in to the living room.

    I turned to her and asked, “What are you doing up Ashey? It’s late and it’s a school night.”

    “I couldn’t sleep Mama,” Ashton said shrugging her shoulders.

    “Does something hurt?” I asked concerned

    Ashton just shook her head and commanded Bobby to get off the couch. Bobby just picked up his head and actually glared at her but did as he was told. He lied down next to the couch and made himself comfortable. Ashton then got on the couch, laid her head on my legs and said, “Can you tell me the story about how you figured out you were in love with Mom, again?”

    I just raised an eyebrow is surprise for two reasons. The first one was that Ashton hadn’t done what she just had done in a very long time. All three of you guys had the habit of coming to your Mom or me and lay your head on our laps when something was wrong, wanted to talk or just wanted to be comforted. The second reason was because all three of you had already heard the story. So I asked softly as I began to run my hands through her hair, “Why do you want to hear that story? You’ve already heard it, sweetheart.”

    Ashton just snuggled herself further into my lap and said softly, “Because I think hearing it again might help me figure some stuff out.”

    I just smiled and joked, “Baby, I don’t know how much my story will help. I was a little crazy back then.”
