    You call it madness, I call it love.

    Spencer gave a worried sigh, an uncomfortable feeling settling in her gut. The idea of her fiancé being out there in this kind of weather was an unsettling one. Turning away from the window, the blonde haired girl decided a warm bath sounded like the perfect way to cure whatever was ailing her. Within 10 minutes she was sinking deep into the large porcelain tub, submerging herself just enough that she could still breath. Between the heat, the aroma, and the silence she found her concerns could do nothing but melt away. After all, Sarah was from Seattle. She knew all about wet roads. She’d be fine.

    Sarah glanced back at the house as she pulled out of the driveway, honestly contemplating just parking and marching back inside. It was such a miserable day outside, and Spencer looked so disappointed. But, the girl quickly rid herself of that thought, and within moments she was out on the road and heading towards her job. Today was going to be just another day at the Los Angeles Times. Being an editor, she really didn’t have the flexibility to just ditch work and sleep in with her girlfriend, no matter how alluring the idea seemed.

    Besides, there were other things to look forward to at the office. Things she couldn’t find at home. Sarah smiled a little bit at that thought, and as she let her mind wander she found herself paying less and less attention to the road. In fact, she was so lost in her head that she failed to notice the approaching red light in the intersection below. The blare of a horn caught her attention as she jerked her head to the left, seeing the massive front of a semi truck approaching at astonishing speeds. The truck driver slammed on the breaks, but the wheels only began to hydroplane on the wet asphalt.

    With only a moment to react, Sarah’s arms flew up to shield her face. The truck hit with enough force to completely crumple the drivers side of the Mercedes Benz, and the last thing the girl would see was the gleam of the enormous grill before it struck. And then it all went black, and the chaos around her dissolved into nothing. There was no pain or agony, just imperceptible darkness.
