Los Angeles Breeds Forbidden Love
Chapter Two: Right As Rain
Spencer leaned over the sink, her elbows getting small red marks where they pressed against the porcelain. After a moment of just hanging her head and breathing, she twisted the water on and rinsed that disgusting taste from her mouth. She didn’t know what to think about all of this. The disillusionment was too much for her to handle, especially when she was still grieving. How could she ever forgive Sarah for doing this to her? And, despite this new discovery, she still missed the girl terribly, which made her feel completely conflicted.
At that moment she heard a soft knock on the door, although it quickly grew in strength. Spencer ducked away from the window, her back pressing against the wall as her breathing grew shallow. She didn’t want anyone in here, seeing her like this. Why couldn’t they understand that?
“Spencer! Spencer, I know your in there!” Glen called from outside the door, although he had stopped knocking. “C’mon Spence, just answer me.”
Spencer controlled a groan as she heard her brothers voice from outside. She wished he’d stop shouting, the neighbors could probably hear. Nonetheless she remained silent, just hoping he’d eventually give up and leave.
“If you don’t say something, I’m going to think your hurt and call the police!” Glen threatened, although you could tell by his tone just how concerned he was, “Just let me in, everyone is worried sick.” The way his voice was muffled, it sounded like he had his forehead pressed against the door.
At the thought of police sirens and ambulances arriving at her doorstop, Spencer’s heart jolted. No way she was going to let that happen, “Just go away Glen!” She called from the living room, still avoiding the windows. Her voice was hoarse from lack of use and congestion.
“Please Spence, just let me in. I need to see your okay…” His voice was softer now because he knew she could hear him. His hand twisted the door knob idly as he pressed his ear to the wood, straining to hear anything from inside.
“I’m fine. Go home.” She replied stubbornly, although she was approaching the door. Some part of her did want Glen in here, so she could have someone to hold and another voice to fill this house. But she was also dazed and still in shock, hell, you would be too in a situation like this.
