She hands me money for lunch and I try to get out of the house before she starts talking again.
“Game today?”
“Yeah, 6:30” I call back to her as I walk to the front door
“Good luck sweetie” I faintly hear as I shut the door
I’m hoping that I’ll have a better day at school than yesterday, Mondays were always a bad day because I had Lab instead of a Study Hall. And practice was exceptionally rough, I’ve had a lot on my mind lately but I need to snap out of it and soon, today’s a big game.
“Carlin you’re late” My first period teacher says to me just as he’s about to shut the door
I roll my eyes, I hate when my mother is right. I smile and bat my eyes when I turn around to apologize.
“Sorry Mr. Hanas, I was uh talking to coach in the Gym” I reply knowing my excuse will get me out of anything
His stern look softens and he gestures for me to take my seat.
Let me break it down real quick for ya, girls basketball, boys baseball, girls soccer, football and the occasional boys lacrosse are royalty here. Pride and joy of good ol’ Rumson Prep, at least two of the five will win a championship of some sort, and all of us will have winning seasons. Girls Basketball leading the way. You want a free pass through high school? Start on the Varsity team all 4 years. After a loss, you’re not expected to even show up at school, not cause everyone hates you but because it’s understood that you need a mental health day.
“Big game tonight huh?” He asks as he walks back to his desk
I sink into my chair and my cheeks turn red, I hate having conversations in front of 20 other kids who resent me.
“Yup, huge”
“Well good luck” he replies and starts to get on with the math class
Cue me taking a mental health break from this class.
A few minutes before the bell is due to ring, the door opens.
My jaw hit the floor when I saw who strutted in owning the place.

another fantastic update. man these girls just can’t keep anything to themselves can they? love that ash got into so many of spence’s classes and that she really is going to put up a fight. can’t wait to see if she does anything crazy-like at spence’s game. pms!
again, awesome update babe. i love that ashley is hell-bent on winning spencer over. although, if the girl i was going after had a boyfriend, i would prob start with kicking his ass first, then get onto the wooing. just me though, if ya can pass that along to ash, that would be great. I love the chain of information. Blake needs to call me so i can take her out on a date proper…all this sneaking around stuff is getting old. and i miss hunter too. pms babycakes
