Falling down means you have to crawl back up – (Chapter: Better in the light of day (chapter 10))

“Why am I here?” She finally spoke.

“I need to talk to someone. I needed to say sorry to you.” His words were mumbled into his hand’s but Kyla heard him.

    “Aiden you don’t…”

“I do. Kyla I don’t deserve for you to hear me out. I should never have treated you the way that I did, I expected my feelings for Ashley to disappear, I never wanted to hurt you.” Aiden explained looking to the girl beside him. “I really did…do care about you Kyla, I‘m sorry for the way everything turned out.” She slowly turned to face him.

“Aiden I understand. I mean I didn’t, but I do now. You didn’t need to explain yourself tonight.”

“That’s not really the reason why I called you.” She frowned at him. “I realised tonight that I know a lot of people but I don’t have a lot of friends, any really, not any more.”

“Well what do you expect.” She shrugged attempting a sympatric look.

“I know.” Aiden hung his head in shame knowing that everything that had happened was partly his fault.

    “You have Ashley.”

“No, I don’t. She broke up with me today.” Aiden said and it was obvious that he was trying to hold himself together. “I should have seen it coming really.” He didn’t want to look at the petit brunette. “She was never going to love me.”

“I’m sorry Aiden, but love doesn’t happen over night, don’t blame yourself.”

“No it is my fault. It’s like if you hold a bird too tightly in your hands it dies, if you hold it too loosely if flies away you have to hold it just right. I was holding her too tight, clinging on to something that I could never really own.” Aiden rubbed his brow. “Ashley could never love me. She will always love Spencer, just as Spencer will always love her.” Kyla did not like the direction this conversation was heading and felt the jolt in her stomach. “People like me don’t stand a chance. There is no point getting in-between them, I see that now.”

“If you love her Aiden you can’t give up.” Kyla knew why she was pushing for them to get back together, he had driven the fear of Ashley and Spencer deeper into her. “Are you sure it’s a serious break up?”

    1. I have been a diehard Spashley fan for a long time, but I think the Spyla storyline is necessary for the healing of Spencer’s heart. Spencer & Kyla have a chemistry together that is quite charming and refreshing. However, I do believe that Ashley needs to suffer the consequences of her own actions before she can be granted the gift of loving Spencer again. Ashley chose Aiden over Spencer which broke Spencer’s heart in a million pieces. So Ashley needs to see what it feels like to lose the one you love to someone else, which happens to be Kyla. Once Ashley learns her lesson and Spencer’s heart heals then they can begin the journey back to loving one another again. Unfortunately, we always have Aiden stepping in and screwing everything up…you do know the delete key works great when the storyline of Aiden comes up or you can ship him off to Iraq or something. Captivating story. PMS
