Fall In Love, Share A Nightmare – (Chapter: Chapter One – Walk away and never look back)

As I step off the plane, the first thing I notice is the giant LED reader as it flashed today’s information.

Welcome to Los Angeles, California. Today is Tuesday, February 22, 3:45 a.m.

The next thing I noticed was that LAX was mostly empty. Not something you would normally see. But as I made my way to pick up my bag and the traveling case that held my Gibson Les Paul, something told me to look at the LED reader again. I turned and watched as it scrolled through everything again but nothing seemed to click. So I turned back around and headed off to to claim my luggage.

For some reason, when I stepped outside, I was expecting a blonde headed beauty to rush forward, with tears in her eyes to tell me how much she missed me before kissing me full on the lips. In a situation like that, I would have kissed her back passionately, showing her just how much I had missed her too. And then it clicked
Today’s date flashed in front of my eyes as I had seen on the LED reader and I knew then that there was no point in waiting for the love of my life, my blonde beauty, when I knew she wasn’t coming.
February 22. Two years ago, this was the day my life had almost ended. It had taken me this long to come home. I kept telling myself it was a mistake to come back. Now I couldn’t remember the reason I did. Deep down, I knew that reason, and the reason was Spencer. But two years was a long time.
I pulled myself out of my misery, as I realized this. I looked to my right and saw a middle aged man opening the trunk of his taxi, and motioning toward me.
I place my bag in the trunk and climbed in the back seat with my Les Paul, the only thing, other than Spencer, that I had ever loved.
"Where to Miss Davies?" he said peering into the back seat with a huge grin plastered on his face. Oh great, another freakin’ fan, I thought.
I gave him the address to my second home, and layed my head back and closed my eyes. I was exhausted from the sleepless 18 hour flight I had just escaped from. But as I drifted off to sleep I couldn’t escaped look of Spencer’s beautiful blue eyes, red rimmed and swollen from crying, as I walked away from her two years ago today. And like every other time I was asleep, the same nightmare haunted me.
